Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is making a £3 million move for Watford’s Algerian star Adlene Guedioura in a massive shake-up.
Bruce hopes to agree a fee with the Hornets and sort out personal terms in long-distance talks, with Guedioura at the African Cup of Nations.
Guedioura has been in and out of the Watford side and the arrival of Tom Cleverley pushes him further down the pecking order.

Have we sold Ayew and I missed it? I agree about Gestede. I liked him because when played correctly (with wingers, not isolated up front with no service) he was a beast. Always put in the effort too.

I struggle to understand what Gabby does. The goalie playing long balls to him doesn't work so repeat. He has better pace than anyone else (bar Amavi and Adomah) but that's probably saying more about the rest of the team than him. I'd rather we'd played Grealish behind McCormack yesterday, then at least we'd have had more attacking intent. We're still lacking players in the opposition box when someone does get away down the wings.

Hutton just makes me laugh now. Just like Cissokho he always has to take that extra touch before punting the ball into the box and it always gives away just a bit of our advantage.

For fucks sake.
If we are being linked with a player who is being pushed down the pecking order by fucking Tom 'disappearing act' Cleverley, then I truly despair.

Adlene Guedioura is a 31-year-old journey man who hasn't scored for Watford in 28 games. Don't know what he adds to the team for £3 million spent.

Watford fans seem to like him because of his effort but at the same time would be glad to get £3M for him as he's just not good enough for the Premier league and a midtable Championship player at best. I don't know how accurate that is, but doesn't sound all that promising.

Was hoping for Lansbury and Hourihane before Saturday, but probably won't happen.

I meant wait for him to come back from the Nations, we need someone NOW

No way would we be going for someone who can't get in a Watford side because of Cleverley. No way.

After the weekend I think there is little doubt we need a real shake up of our playing squad ( again ). Midfield is obvious area that needs improving & I would like to think that the cheque book will be opened this week to secure the names SB wants to try & cling on to the rapidly disappearing play off positions.

I'm not adverse to us remaining in this division for another season if it helps long term but at least make us competitive for the remainder of the year.

I'm hoping BMH revolving door is going to be whirling round all week

Agree with sticking in the Championship if it means finally building a squad worth sticking with - we have no senior players worth much & I think this doesn't help young players or in creating the general personality of the dressing room which is currently full of newbies &/or mercenaries. It doesn't surprise me that Bruce might be eyeing up targets that bring grit & fight rather than creativity because it's what I'd do.

I'm expecting inward movement of players this week, in readiness and preparation for the next game. If things remain as they are I will take that as the sign that the club has accepted no challenge for promotion, and next season as a championship club.

We cannot continue with no recruits in midfield as at this point in time I am reserving judgement on McCormack as he is getting no service, Gabby should just piss off!

McCormack gets himself into great positions every game, the problem is nobody ever gives him the ball when in those positions.....
Saturday summed it up perfectly when we hit a long ball over the top for him to chase down the line... He has never been gifted with pace FFS !!
Get the players to suit the ability of our forward line ( not Gabby ) & things must surely improve

Apparently were signing a 19 year old winner from wolfsburg called Anton donkor. Germany u21 international butbnever played a first team game. That's all I can find on him

While that sounds interesting enough, it would be absurd to sign this lad instead of playing Andre Green.

It's nice to see us being linked to this winger and that winger from Petersborough though. Maybe there's no smoke with fire and we actually are signing some proper wingers. About fecking time.

Apparently Lansbury will sign so owner can play off loan from buyer which fell through and Rhodes will sign because Boro are signing Bamford?

The German U20 is not a first team signing at the moment! One for the future apparently?

Really doesn't make sense when you get rid of the one player that would have benefited greatly by having wingers at the club putting decent crosses into the box!

Des Bremner - remember him? Not a great player but he helped the better players play well. Some 'no-stars' are useful.

Okay, so I know the answer to this question is "yes" (lol) but would it be crazy to play Green on the right wing, put Adomah in as a number 10 role behind Mac up front? At least Adomah can receive the ball and turn & pass. I know it still leaves issues with the ball even coming out of midfield, but I can at least see Albert being a link man - you know, the sort of role that Ayew SHOULD BE FECKING WELL DOING NOW!!!!
