I think it is out of courtesy defo. in regards to people saying he took training etc so was shit, nobody knows how RDM was, he could of basically been a "my way or the high way" type of manager??
Right so Clarke who has worked as an assistant to Ruud Guillit, Jose Mourhino and Kenny Dalglish was scared of RDM??
Maybe RDM is a big bad bully who stole Westwood pocket money and pulled Jackie Boys hair?

Re: The next Villa Manager
Clarke being interviewed is purely out of professionalism - if we do take our time or target a manager at a club already which will need negotiating around compensation etc then we will need Clarke to take charge for a few weeks

didn't say scared, at the end of the day the manager is the manager, and that's exactly how RDM could of worked, "thanks for your input Steve but were playing my way".

"The next Villa Manager" should sign Will Norris
Dyche now at 11/4 from 33/1 last week
Just gone to 9/4..............
He is the safe pair of hands that bruce would be with the possibility of more potential, bruce having proved that mid table prem is his peak.

There was some funny bastard on twitter pretending to be a Chinese Man Utd fan who used to talk about tearing up Chinese bars with the Beijing Massive. Maybe they'll turn up, too. ? :) :)

Don't see much mileage in Dyche over Bruce. Dyche has had one PL season - and got relegated. Thats not as a good a record as Lambert.
I wouldn't mind Dyche. But don't see him as significantly better than Bruce.

@smetro we know what Bruce's glass ceiling is but Dyche is an unknown quantity at a big club with money? Plus his football is slightly more interesting than SB??

Whilst we are inexorably moving toward the day where AT starts his posts with "Once Upon A Time..." you have to admit they make for cracking reads!

Very marginal gains IMO. - Sure if they were both freely available then you'd go for Dyche over Bruce. But IMO its going to be a massive, expensive and time consuming struggle to get Dyche - Where as quite feasibly\cheaply Bruce could be taking tomorrow

Re: The next Villa Manager
Dr T: Thank you for agreeing to see me Doug, or should I call you Mr Ellis? You have been in my position many times before, who do you think I should chose?
DD: Youre right young Tony, I am the most experienced man in world football. You're doing the right thing seeking me out. Mr President is fine by the way.
Dr T: So who do you think should be my next manager Mr President?
DD: Well I'm the President, so I think you'll find who ever I chose will be my manager young man.
Dr T: (Patiently) Ok who do you think should be your next manager Mr President?
DD: Well when you've got the level of experience in football that I have, it's really not that difficult Tony. Have I told you I invented the bicycle kick?
Dr T: Yes you have mentioned it.......
DD: I told Graham Taylor, before I gave him to the FA as my gift to the nation, that we simply must sign that young man. And do you know who that young man was?
Dr T: (With a sigh) Dwight York?
DD: No it was Dwight York. He was just a boy but I turned him into one of the greatest players since..... well me. He was like a son to me, people often thought we were father and son.
Dr T: Well that's wonderful Mr President, but what about the managerial position.
DD: (Smiling benevolently) As I've said it's very simple. The boy Dyche is the obvious choice. He won't need a new tie, he can bring all his own kit and Doris will just change the badge. We might even manage to knock out some of those old dafabet shirts I've got in my garage in Four Oaks.
Dr T: Thanks Doug.
DD: Mr President
Dr T: Oh McGrath
DD: Now you're getting there.

Afternoon: SSN announce Dyche is staying at Burnley
@Villa_Dan feels Sky have just fleeced a bunch of people of some wedge

Re: The next Villa Manager
The reason Dyche's odds shortened was because of what Pat Murphy tweeted last night and the press, with nothing else to go on jumped on it. And of course SkyBet did what Dan has just said above. Nobody knows anything concrete, Pat Murphy included.

In fairness to Pat Murphy, he's been fairly open in what he does and doesn't know. People just jump on any potential news

The tragedy in my opinion, with regards to the media, is that the local rag is utterly pathetic. Made worse by the fact that in years gone by it was a good local paper that was interested in the area and the things that interested Brummies.

very true, but most local, regional and even national papers are the same these days. They simply track social media and print it, without any/ much verification. The days of professional journalists are almost gone.

Re: The next Villa Manager
"The Mirror understands that senior Villa players have been in contact with the Bruce camp and expect him to be appointed this week."
Load of bollocks, what the hell is Bruces camp? Is it a group of tents in the grounds of Middleton Hall and the players have sent outriders to check out what they're planning? Senior players don't contact potential managers. They get on with their jobs and wait until their new boss turns up. Besides most of our senior players are on international duty and will be concentrating on that.

It's 'done and dusted' according to Trent on Villatalk. From the context, looks like he means for Bruce.

Well if that is true, lets get on with it!
P.S. Dean Smith has never been approached although he wouldn't rule out the job in the future but not currently.
