Trotters wrote:I think Xia has his eyes open when he bought the club and had few illusions that his hand would be back in his pocket to the tune of several million to offload the players that put us in this position to start with.
Maybe RDM asked for a bit of time to see if the issues of last season were down to previous mismanagement, poor attitude or just simply due to the players being shit.
No way wouid anyone potentially spend millions plus waste time if things were purely down to internal wranglings.
It would seem from various stories, rumours and Xia himself that many problems cannot be fixed so the players in question will be moved on and replaced.
Ive no doubt at all that agents abd clubs have been approached with deals 80% done (at least in principal) and there'll be a flurry of activity before the season starts.
I can't speak intelligently of this league we're in as to pick how we'll do other than to say that a (then) high-flying, motivated Blues team were one of the few to actually lose against us. So on that alone id like to think we'd be comfortably sitting around 8th spot. Add in a better manager...7th. Better attitudes...6th.
The new players - and those to come in - are still unknown so 6th would seem a reasonable guess.
If RDM can get a couple more signings and fire them up then we should make the playoffs.
Interesting times!
A pretty good summary, Trotters.
I'm as impatient as the next fan but I have just have to accept that it will take a little time to sort out the accumulated mess of the past 5 years. If I'm honest, I'm not convinced that RDM is the best manager for us but I'll get behind him and see how he progresses.
No idea how we'll fare in the Championship and a lot depends what happens over the next two weeks. As this stand my gut tells me that we'll struggle at first and begin to adjust, maybe with the help of further signings, beyond January.
I think the very best we could achieve is 6th but realistically I think we'll be around 8th or 9th.
If that is the case it will be interesting to see how Xia will react after all the hyped up hyperbole and rhetoric.

Richards and lescott are for sure going, others are trying everything to prove their worth to RDM. Amavi will be staying. hopefully more info to follow..

All very quite at the moment. Hardly any links to players arriving and moves for departing players seem to be falling through, or not on in the first place. I notice Xia has been quiet (by his standards) on twitter since yesterday morning too.
Hopefully plenty rumbling on in the background.

According to the 'Express and Star' we're 'thought to be interested' in Leicester right back Ritchie De Laet. Played for Leicester when they got promoted and for Middlesbrough last season, don't know much about him, but I do think we need to improve on Hutton.

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
I said yesterday that Richards is the worst centre-back I've ever seen at the club. BUT, if he ends up staying, buckles down and plays right-back would it be the end of the world? Not for me. Tbh he'd probably be one of the best full-backs in the championship and he offers a threat from set-pieces aswell. If he was 31/33 and was way past it then fair enough but he's 28!!..there's still time to put things right if he plays in his right position.

I want him gone. Not worried tbh, plenty of time to shift him. Willing to bet someone will fancy that release clause. My money is on WBA.

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
I got to be honest and thought Richards was a brilliant buy but he has completed destroyed that perception of him being an absolute beast of a player!
He is an absolute brainless twat, never once thinking about the team, he just seems totally caught up in his own ego!
He is never in the position he is supposed to be, even at right back, he just wanders off doing his own thing!
He has to go, epitomises everything that was so, so wrong last season with Aston Villa!

I'm hoping for at least another 4-5 out and 3-4 in before the transfer window shuts.
