Re: Transfer window
To be honest it is a no brainer, Austin isn't going to join us when he has a chance of joining any other club in the PL, I know I wouldn't and I support the bloody club!
The only signings (if any) will be on the last day when players are desperate to join a desperate club!

Re: Transfer window
If we can close the gap with a few more wins by deadline day, I can see us getting in a couple players who will improve us. If we continue to drift at the bottom, nobody will touch us with a ten foot pole. I'm pretty sure Garde and our squad knows this, so we have to see what the response is like.

Unveiling loan signings, what kinda uninspiring bullshit is that.
It pisses me off that we didn't sign Afobe. Exactly what we need.

He is 30, just crap because it ties up a loan arrangement for a position that we don't really need as we have Richards to play there!
As mentioned uninspiring bullshit, but what do you expect from Aston Villa.
When was the last time you said that was brilliant form something that Aston Villa did?

Re: Transfer window
If we can get a striker who can score regularly and we keep up this kind of effort, I think we can pull off the great escape.

Re: Transfer window
We got three winnable matches coming up. But we need a bit of luck, proper referee - not like the fucking shitbag that was the referee today, and we need proper team performances. And probably a signing or two, then maybe.
But I think we needed a win today.

That's the kind of thinking we need.

Re: Transfer window
Get a striker in and a replacement for Gil. Replacement for Gil is key. We can't afford a 40 kg passenger without pace in a relegation battle.

I'd get on the phone to Loic Remy and tell him we will match his Chelsea wages plus a £1m bonus in cash if we stay up

Ayew. Play Kozak and Remy up top and Ayew as a #10

We might actually stand a chance if we got Remy, we can always dream!

Re: Transfer window
I honestly think we need to replace Gil more than we need a striker. Kozak and Ayew can manage. The reason Ayew drops deep is because Gil is an empty suit.

Re: Transfer window
Though ofc. if people think Ayew is better in an advanced role, well then Remy will be needed.

Re: Transfer window
I'd like to see us test Sunderland with 2-3 million or so for Rodwell. Their fans hate him and he's totally lost his way there. But I rate him. Talented young man that has a point to prove, has a knack of getting shots off, good at breaking into the box and has alright physical presence. Would beef up our side no question. Would do well in the championship as well. And is English which is something we need IMO.

Re: Transfer window
Rudy and Libor with Ayew in behind. Veretout Gana and other in midfield. That should be our default if not winning with half an hour left in any game. Unlucky not to get more out of today but at least Garde showed he understood the situation that a draw was not enough.

Once Gestede came on he was knocking down balls for Kozak and we suddenly looked good. Gestede is very good at collecting long balls and Kozak is a clever player with strength and good positional play. Neither really has pace so we'd have to look to Ayew to try to provide that. I'd still like to see a proven goalscorer (with his feet too) come in but for now, Kozak and Gestede with Ayew on the pitch (in a 4-3-1-2) or Sinclair and Ayew out wide (in a 4-4-2) seems well worth trying, especially as both Sinclair and Ayew are fast and good enough to both get balls into the middle and score themselves. What we do need though (as Ayew has been pointing out!) are more than one or two players in the box when balls come in, and that's where Garde's lone striker never really worked. We need at least Veretout or Gueye able to provide some more support.

Re: Transfer window
If the rumours about Mathieu Debuchy are true, will we be seeing him at RB or ahead of the defence in Garde's 4-1-4-1, or could we be seeing him take Westwood's place in the midfield three, allowing Veretout and Gueye to play a little further forward?
I'm just curious to see what Garde is planning since I think we should play Richards at RB, and Sanchez's absence isn't affecting us, at least not when we have Okore at CB. Sure, Bacuna's put in a couple of good performances but he hasn't always played well at RB.

Re: Transfer window
Think it will only be loan signings or very small fee additions - be suprised if anyone we purchase in this window costs more than £3m.
Trent on VT has implied that the club has accepted relegation - so there will be no spurlge this jan.
I wouldn't be surprised if we don't offload those we get offers for ..Lescott\Kozak .....I really for the future of us as a big club.

Re: Transfer window
I think we will do fine even if we're relegated, but it's a shame we didn't sign Luongo in the summer as he's exactly what we're gonna need down there. Anyway, don't give up. 48 points to play for.

Re: Transfer window
I know I will get some stick for this but what about offering Grealish to Chelsea as part of a deal for Remy? you know with Remi you get a goal threat.

The fact that they have given up is no secret. The new Chairman has said it, Fox has said it and Lerner told them both to say it. What a fucking inspiration they are!
