Living in the land of Stripey Nigels, the palace fans have been mystified as to the lack of opportunity he has been given, they all believe that they had their greatest success when he partnered Murray up front which usually came when they both appeared as second half subs.

I rate Gayle, But to pay 8m for a player struggling to get first team action is a no no for me.

The fee will be circa £6.5mill with add ons based on appearances and player progress rising to £10 million.

Not a fan of the idea of Berbatov tbh, the guys about as energetic / mobile as week old dead badger, Gayle I could warm to but agree he isn't really what we should be looking for either, to be honest though, with the alleged amount of money remaining I don't think we can afford to bring in anyone that wouldn't be a risk. Should have maybe phoned Arsenal and see if Joel Campbell is available for loan

I see twitterville has us linked with a move for Liverpool's Tiago Ilori.

Mate of mine that is a huge Liverpool fan really rates this kid. He reckons he should be starting every game for them. Way better than Lovren.

Just seen it on the BBC's deadline day coverage.

Aston Villa have made an inquiry about signing Liverpool's Portuguese defender Tiago Ilori. Ilori, who joined Liverpool from Sporting Lisbon in a £7m deal in September 2013, has been out on loan at Grenada CF in La Liga and and Bordeaux in France after failing to secure first-team football at Anfield. It remains to be seen whether Villa pursue a loan or permanent deal for the 22-year-old who has also been attracting interest from Sunderland - or if he wishes to stay at Liverpool and fight his way into manager Brendan Rodgers' plans.

Aston Villa defender Nathan Baker has joined Championship side on a season-long loan.

The 24-year-old has made more than 80 appearances for the Premier League club.

I wouldn't do any deals with Liverpool - no matter what.
