According to Nursey we are after Islam Slimani of Sporting Lisbon.

Slimani has 45 in 47 for Sporting, and 15 in 37 for Algeria!

Apparently, he played wide at Marseille, but scored 13 in 31 appearances at striker for Lorient last season.
He has been linked to a lot of clubs bigger than us this transfer window, so I think he'd be another coup for us.

That can't be right... Who Scored has him at 15 goals in 32 appearances for Sporting last season. It's still a good return, but nowhere near 45 in 47.

stop looking at numbers.
Bents numbers are good. Doesnt mean he is the player we need.
Need videos. How the actually play. are the a bulldog beast ala costa? Are they a snake in the box ala bent/guroud (spelling)? Are they a striker who checks to the ball and allows players to run off them ala carew/ rooney? Are they a striker who plays off the last man ala gabby/ theo walcott?
dont look at numbers... they help, but tell nothing of the player.

I had to explain to my 6 year old what a snake was ( in this context). At least I didn't have to explain what a money grabbing bench warming git was!

You tube video alert but I really like the look of Slimani. Predatory like instincts. Great in the air in front of goal. Looks assured and composed in terms of finishing. No idea what his all round play is like though...
https://youtu.be/W3k3H9Yj3cw
I'd also like to sign him so we can sing "WILL THE REAL SLIMANI PLEASE STAND UP"...

Diego Rolan would be a great signing. Speedy and technical finisher. Would link up well with Kozak.

Well - we might not know it (with the way info comes from Villa) - but today is a massive day - it will be day surely where bids and (final decisions on which players) are put in for a number of players. It seems like everyday it's a case of "don't panic - got a while until the window closes" but those days are ticking down.
For what it's worth I would be more than happy with a Preat, Slimani, Oulare and Ade (on loan - purchase no fucking way pleas TS) and maybe a CB.
Please don't buy Gestede - he looked a beast in that game against the bin dippers - but it's one game against what was a poor defence. Week in, week out in a league with much better zonal and man marking systems, he would be a poor man's Heskey (and that is saying something.)

It would be beyond depressing if we replaced Benteke with a 27 year old championship striker who couldn't get a game for relegated Cardiff when last at premiership level.

Re: Summer transfers speculation thread (all links in here until it's official)
Convinced that a hungry Adebayor would be a very good loan or short term signing. When you think about it, he has a much wider range of skills than Benteke, even if he is not the typical target man . Benteke was strong and powerful but Adebayor at his best has subtlety which enables him to beat defenders one to one, in the box. Think he will score different types of goals than we have seen in the last few seasons and provide many more assists than Benteke.

I don't think Adebayor will be joining us.

In Sherwood I trust. He's already bought what could be the best LB in Europe and Gueye looks good too. As does Ayew. Exciting times ahead.
