Did any one else get the feeling that Sherwood was saying that the speed of our progress up the league (years?) depended on the financial support he got from RL?

Even if he didn't - its indicative of the modern game, you can only do so much without money. Lets just hope we can see some decent football next season - and some sign of progress...

Thoroughly enjoyed watching that, makes me think even more that he is the man I want in charge of my club.

He seems very mature and reflected. I like that he tries to rebuild it as a club as well.

After seeing the quips & clever answers at press conferences it's nice to see the quieter contemplative side. I hope he(/we) gets that extra sprinkling of good luck that any successful manager needs.

Re: Tim Sherwood: Villa reject
Good interview. Just to pick up on one thing he said about learning lessons from mistakes and bad matches (like the FA Cup final) a big mistake on that day was starting with Hutton. As soon as Benteke saw that it was Hutton and not Bacuna on the team sheet he gave up. He knew he wasn't going to get any decent service. It was one of a number of errors made by TS and it will be interesting to see if he's taken it onboard when our team's announced tomorrow.

Re: Tim Sherwood: Villa reject
There is a glint in his eye, many interesting points, building a club with the ethos from academy to 1st (Barcelona esque), Blackburn from Championship to Premier League winners will never be done again. I think he rated us as Championship last season or as close as you could get and he will try his damndest to win that title. The FA Cup final hurt him as much as it hurt us.
I trust him and I believe in him and his methods.

Well it's here,
Today we Kick off the new season and i haven't a clue where we'll finish. we'll obviously get more of an idea after the first 8 or 9 games but Good luck to all involved and fingers crossed we negate a tricky opening day safely.

How fucking ridiculous. 3 games into the season, 1 win and 2 very narrow defeats. Fucking ridiculous.

Re: Tim Sherwood: Villa reject
Today will not go down as his finest hour. We were the better team in the first half but they changed things around at the break. From then on we were on the back foot. Taking Sanchez off while leaving the ineffectual Gabby and Gestede for the full 90 was strange.
Pardew won the tactical battle hands down today.

Re: Tim Sherwood: Villa reject
It's a massive mistake to use so many different tactics with a team that's more or less all new to the club. To get the lads gelling we need to keep running the same tactics through both wins and losses. They need some familiarity with eachother. We should run 433 no matter what. Pack the midfield and let Grealish/Ayew/Traore /Gil create offensively.

TS was completely out thought this afternoon especially in the second half. TS is learning as he goes along, but he doesn't seem the same confident buoyant bloke that arrived at the end of last years disasterous campaign, I think the run of poor results at the end of last season and this years faltering performances( being kind) are weighing heavy on him especially as this is now his team( although I'm sure he wants to add more).

Likeable bloke.Good with the Media. Good with the players.
Tactically naive and going to cost us many points this season, if he cannot get it together.

Its work in progress and its still early on but the Sunderland game will be an indicator of what to expect in the coming Months.
TS has to make the obvious changes were all talking about against Notts County and then throw the lot at Sunderland.
For me we need to try Bunn out, we don't have enough time to give Bacuna at RB, he's just not right.
We need to try wingers to find out who the real Rudy is or a 4-3-3 with Jack and Traore drifting wide throwing crosses at him.
But of paramount importance is Gabby, I'd let him go on a free TBH.

For my money TS got his tactics fine for Bournmouth and United. His only fuck up was his continuing with Gabby IMO

1st half yesterday fine too excluding Gabby, sub of Sinclair v MU was terrible and yesterday give Pardew credit, he read game well made changes that worked. TS then didn't know what to do IMO, the sub(again) of Sanchez was awful and kept Gabby on again. C'mon Tim, we know you can do better mate.
