Maybe he wants him to be like Stevie G last season - 'the quarterback'. Dropping deep as a third centre back to pick up the ball and dictate the tempo.

I think I'd rather put him in a packed midfield with defenders in defence. But then again I'm old school.

He'd be good in that role if, as you say, it's a packed defence. He can't be trying to re the show in a 3-man midfield that's constantly being overwhelmed.
