Match Thread Preston v Villa 29.12.2018
Preston supposedly have a fair few injuries at the moment, but that means this could be a banana skin game for us, everyone will be expecting us to rack up the goals, just the type of scenario we get all tangled up in. I'm going for a hard fought 1 nil to us in view of that, but if they want to go on a goal fest then I wont complain. UTV

With our defence a shambles, Grealish out and Whelan playing even a draw is like a victory. I haven't a clue what will happen but our away record of late has been pretty good.

Not confident about this one, it just has the feel of one of those matches that most are over confident about and expect us to win, and then we end up losing... That said we really should beat them, given their injury crisis, we have a few players out as well, but we have a much deeper squad to make up for it than they do.
Think we will probably see some rotation, possibly with Adomah, Kodjia and Bjarnason coming in. Would have liked to have seen O'Hare, but seems he's injured, and I don't know what's going on with Grealish, but it doesn't sound good, another reason why we need a win, to give ourselves confidence that we can do it without him on a regular basis.

Sounds like they're all over us, given all their injuries I think they're just going to throw caution to the wind and just go for it. Have a bad feeling things aren't going to go as according to plan.

Nyland keeping us in it by all accounts, need to get to half time. Other results going our way as well, will be a hugh disappointment if we don't take advantage of this injury ravaged Preston team, should have rested a few players.

1-0 Villa HT. Other results going ok thus far, but the last few weeks have showed us not to bother looking until around 90+4 on the clock! Let’s look after what we can control and keep a clean sheet. UTV

Not good enough, throwing away too many points. With Grealish out, and Bolasie and El Ghazi being inconsistent I think we need to find a way of starting Kodjia, as we need someone in the starting line-up who can help us turn these draws into wins, and take some of the pressure of Abraham.

Well that went as I thought, the injury hit team having a right go, we had the chances at the end to finish it but as usual failed, Nyland kept us in it a couple of times and then caused mayhem in the defence through lack of decision, they used the best tactic against us lumping big balls at the defence and we just can't cope. Having said that the man who was causing all the damage (Johnson) should have been off, but that par for the course in this division, some of our decision making when on the ball around the opposition goal leaves a lot to be desired, we go again on Tuesday.
