Reads like a ridiculous game. Clearly issues at the back end for both teams. Still, one win off the playoffs now. The march goes on.

Commentator said ball was over the line before Tammy touched it. We'll see but there were goals we should have scored earlier. Bearing in mind how dangerous they were on the attack it seems slightly nuts to try to shore up a one-goal lead when they were capable of scoring virtually every time they got the ball to their strikers.
I wonder how many outlets there are with enough self respect to not call it a 'thriller at the Villa'.
Still, we scored five! That hasn't happened in a while. Shame we only took a point. Tammy MOTM.

Tuanazebe has been solid next to him so I would say Chester is just having a bad spell, but we cant change anything as we all know, I just wish Nyland would look as if he is watching the ball they have flashed past him into the net and he doesn't move a muscle, we have been very very generous IMO tonight looks a lot like after the Wolves game last year.
Nyland is the biggest liability in the team and Steve Bruce can be thanked for all of our goalkeeping woes. Fuck you Steve Bruce.
Totally agree anything going anywhere near our goal is in and he don't even flinch, do you think he needs glasses ????????

There is something to be said for staying in the game that ended 5-5. Remember when we'd've given up after the first goal or two?

Did we buy or loan him? I can't remember now. Needs fixing as top priority come the window though.

Bought him.
I think Chester's looked shaky since he was injured for Wales. I wonder if he has a niggling injury?

The timelines do seem to correlate so yes you may well be right.

We all new that the defence is our weak link, We need to get to January before we can sort out the defence, we showed that we have fight, with two goals down we came back , it was very entertaining, onwards and upwards. UTV.

To score five goals at home, or even away, and still not win the game is an absolute shambles; to go 5-4 up but and then still concede an equalizer against ten men, adds to the disappointment... My initial reaction is to blame Bruce for the mess he's left the defence and the goalkeeping department in, but if we're blaming him for that, then does it follow that we praise him for the attacking talent he left the club with? To be fair, we shouldn't be conceding five goals no matter what.
Looking at it in a way that shows a calm attitude towards disappointment, at least we didn't lose, and before the game began I wouldn't have been too disappointed with a draw, given that it still represents ten points from the last available twelve.
As I've said before we need to somehow get to January still within touching distance of the promotion places, and then do whatever it takes to sort out our defence.
This result also won't feel so bad, if we can somehow against all odds get a win against Middlesbrough.

Against all the odds? I’m not sure about that, they’re hardly free scoring and we’ve just knocked 5 past a team who are, I believe, 2nd best defensively in the league. Wouldn’t surprise at all if we won the game.

It wouldn't really surprise me either, but if I was choosing our next game, then away to Middlesbrough, would probably be one of my last choices. But if we're going to stay in contention for promotion, then we'll need to win some of these difficult games coming up.

Re: Villa v Forest 28.11.2018 match thread
I have just seen 10 goal at a match !! and I have not enjoyed the game. Someone tell me what the feck is wrong with me.
I think the biggest issue I was bitterly disappointed with the defence and overjoyed at the strikers. One thing for sure for me Nyland has no place in the villa team. Basic mistakes, not covering your near post, not coming out to the ball, and generally flapping at any cross and to top it all letting a ball from between the half way lane and our goal area just drift past . FFS give Bunn a chance. Rant over, looking forward to the Middlesbrough game. I believe we have a good chance to beat them as long as the round of fecks to the defence has taken effect.

What happened to Moreira? He was supposed to come in as Nyeland's backup but as far as I can think he's not yet played, but Bunn has.
I'd be amazed if we didn't bring in a new goalie, new right-sided CB and possibly a LB in January. What about a holding midfielder too? Whelan makes a nice pass but a) can't shoot and b) is immobile and easy to run past. Or do we stick with Bjarnasson? Our attack is loaded with really good players but our defence is going to cost us promotion.

Not sure what's going on with Moreira, reading up on him when he signed he appeared to have a good reputation in Portugal and was linked with a few big money moves, notably to Benfica as a replacement for Ederson.
I think it's inevitable that we'll sign a goalkeeper in January, Tom Heaton being linked... What we do between then and now though, I'm not sure.

Nyland simply has to be dropped, he’s a disaster who has cost us points all season. Steer coming back in January will be an upgrade that costs us nothing. Ditto Bunn.

Re: Villa v Forest 28.11.2018 match thread
Last night will stay in the memory for years, kamikaze defending , ten goals, a sending off, a penalty, coming from behind again only to blow a lead & then still have time to have two disallowed goals, WTF was last night as I haven’t witnessed anything like that.
At 2-0 down I’d have bitten your hand off for a point but still left the game disappointed, us footy fans are a greedy bunch !
On The goalkeeping front, totally agree, Nyland is not good enough, Chester needs dropping but we haven’t a replacement & our best right back is also our best left back because Taylor is average at best.
Talking to the lads on The Holte last night, I heard Tom Heaton on loan January, I’d be pleased with that
What a night UTV

Under no circumstances are we dropping Chester. He's been great for ages, gets injured and hasn't been so good those last two matches.

Foxy, it hasn’t been just the last two matches mate, Chester hasn’t been the same player this year & he has cost us too many goals of late, but we haven’t anyone else atm so we are going to have to persevere.
I like Chester, great player, just not this season

He started off covering for Jedi and now he's been shifted to the left instead of the right. If we do anything, we bring in a CB who plays on the right, to complement the two (plus one on loan) we have who play on the left. Tuanzebe was tried out on the left and he didn't work. Elphick was tried on the left and he didn't work. Chester's the only one who's been any good, albeit not perfect. Bedeau it seems isn't ready so we're stuck with what we have until January, but I'm not convinced it will be Chester who'll get dropped if we bring in a right-sided CB.
Remember how shit Vlaar looked for us with Lowton on one side and Clark on the other? He spent his time pulled out of position one way or the other and ended up looking rubbish. Then he played for Holland in the World Cup and looked superb because he could get on with his own job.
