Perhaps this season it is stock up on goalkeepers, like last season was right backs... obviously you can never have too many!

Well I think we now have enough goalies and right backs to make a starting 11 from? Perhaps Brucies idea is to have a 'rush' goalie system similar to the school playground?

10 games and this potato-headed numbnut will be gone? Just sit tight Theirry and we will be coming to get you!

I hope Grealish stays. I remember him playing for Engand U21's a couple of years back and Aidy Boothroyd reckoned that he bossed the game like a quarterback dictating play in a Pirlo style.
I could see him doing that for us this year if Bruce has the tactical nous to use him properly. It would be a shame to see him in that role for a team that we will probably be competing with in a year or two.

Well we're apparently going to bid £3.5m for Bristol City left back Joe Bryan... So we must be getting some money from somewhere... My first thought was Grealish, but Adama's going to Wolves, and we get twenty percent of the transfer fee, so maybe that's where we're getting the money to bid for Bryan.

Looks like 2 medical spots booked - I"m guessing Tuanzebe and Nyland.
If we really are locked in a battle with Leeds for talented  Millwall midfielder George Saville, he has to come to us surely? We owe it to the British public not to allow someone called Saville to end up in Leeds - look what happened last time....

Meanwhile...

#avfc have had a bid worth up to £6m for Bristol City defender Joe Bryan accepted. Could be the first major signing under Villa’s new owners

One of them was Nyland, but the other is apparently a unknown player, as Tuanzebe coming back didn't require a medical...

Interesting re: the left back, it suggests we'll be playing wingbacks since we already have Hutton doing a decent job at LB, Taylor probably able to do a decent job if given a proper go and wingers called Albert Adomah and Andre Green who may or may not be any good as wingers, who knows. Maybe we're just trying to compensate for a lack of centre backs by stocking up on LBs and goalies to match the excessive number of RBs on the books. I don't know who plays at LB or RB in the U23s but I assume they're looking for alternative employment?

Wouldn't it just have been easier to bring back Bristol City defender Nathan Baker, who played well with Chester the season before the failed experiment, and stick with the LBs we already have?

Nyland completed his medical earlier today, but the other one has been pushed back to tomorrow morning, according to avfctransfers1... He also says that there are another two medicals booked for Wednesday, so should be a busy few days, on the transfer front.

We have to feel optimistic really, young players ready to step up from the under 23s players coming in especially Axel, last season was a bit of a washout for him but he already knows the club so I am expecting him to slot in seamlessly. Anyway if we can win a few of the first 7 games this year that will be a step up. UTV Scarf Waving

Plenty of talk about an England under 21 forward from Man City Lukas Nmecha, supposed to be hot stuff he was in Villa's side of the directors box tonight apparently, could it be him tomorrow?

During tonight's game on tv when they showed Alex Bruce and Brian Little in the director's box, there was another guy next to them who looked like he might be a player... Apparenlty it was Lukas Nmecha, a quick websearch tells me that he's a young Man City striker, who's previously been linked with a few other championship clubs... His goalscoring stats at youth level look very impressive indeed.

He was definitely there, but whether he's going to sign with us is another matter, he's also been heavily linked with Leeds and their DOF was also at the game last night, strange that he should be sitting next to Brian Little if he's going elsewhere though.

We might need more than one striker as Kodjia is being linked with a move to Middlsbrough.

AAAAARRRGGGHHH! Last night after watching something on iPlayer it started loading up something else to watch based on my favourites: 'Sarah and Duck'. AAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH! I'm at work to escape the in-laws, for the nice cooling air con and because I have a nice comfy seat to fall asleep in if necessary. Oh, yes, and to work. And there's a sweet shop next door.

How's your head this morning after the cider and a 1-3 win to the mighty Villa defence?

John McGinn from Hibs is an unusual one. As far as I can tell and assuming he's not a winger we have:

Hourihane
Lansbury
O'Hare
Gardner
(Grealish)
(Tshibola)

Thor
Jedi
Whelan

to choose from. Is McGinn a replacement for Grealish or are we just collecting promising young players? Bruce talked last night about the new owners telling him they want a younger side, which sounds like they've told him to forget the 'experienced heads' approach.

Just surfaced into the land of the living. A car wreck of a night, the missus informed me i was singing Holte enders in the sky at full volume with the windows open at 3 am this morning. Not seen the neighbours yet.
Had this hilarious and far fetched dream that Villa won and - get this - Elmo, Elphick and Hutton scored hahahaha.
Today is best described by an excerpt from the excellent book and film Lucky Jim:
“[Jim] Dixon was alive again. Consciousness was upon him before he could get out of the way… He lay sprawled, too wicked to move, spewed up like a broken spider-crab on the tarry shingle of the morning… His mouth had been used as a latrine by some small creature of the night, and then as its mausoleum. During the night, too, he’d somehow been on a cross-country run and then been expertly beaten up by secret police. He felt bad”

Got this strange feeling in my stomach that we might well see Grealish, Adomah, & Kodjia at other clubs come friday morning. Seems we’re working to get a few younger players in quite quickly now for fairly small fees, it would make sense to cash in on Albert and Kodjia if the interest is there and the figures stack up. IMO we’ve seen and had the best out of the pair of them, a figure around £15m+ for the pair of them would be ok.

My Glaswegian mate and die hard Celtic fan reckons that this is all pish and a game by Hibs/McGinn to get his dream move to Celtic as he is a boyhood fan? Now it turns out my mate personally knows McGinn through his brother who went to school with him and was also taught by McGinns mother. Says the lad is the real deal and a very good player and will be Scott Browns replacement in time. Said McGinn is a better player than JG but that might just be Scottish pride?

McGinn and Brown are completely different players so I don't see his argument that he will be a replacement? Hopefully, Lennon will do all he can to talk McGinn in to signing for Villa rather than allowing Celtic to strengthen by signing one of his players. Time will tell.
