Now it turns out my mate personally knows McGinn through his brother who went to school with him and was also taught by McGinns mother. Says the lad is the real deal and a very good player and will be Scott Browns replacement in time. Said McGinn is a better player than JG but that might just be Scottish pride?
McGinn and Brown are completely different players so I don't see his argument that he will be a replacement? Hopefully, Lennon will do all he can to talk McGinn in to signing for Villa rather than allowing Celtic to strengthen by signing one of his players. Time will tell.
Initially McGinn would replace Stuart Armstrong (sold to Southampton) then later Brown.
Lennon loves Celtic?
Celtic do not have any rivals for the title?
And the latest from the Asda in Clydebank is that his mother says he only wants to play for Celtic?
Time will tell!

PP have already paid out on Celtic winning the title after one game of the season, that just shows what a pathetic, micky mouse league the Scottish PL is!

AVFCTransfers saying McGinn is a done deal. Great if so.

I like our current transfer policy, young and dynamic players, what a refreshing change!

Teamtalk reporting that we're close to signing Isaac Success on loan from Watford... Don't know a great deal about him, but think he's a pacey forward who can also play as a winger.

Me too. But like a broken record none of it matters much if we have Whelan in the middle of it all! Some of the players coming in do look really interesting though.

I don’t entirely understand the anti Whelan vibe, he is steady , and a lot better player than I thought he was ?
Is it right we have £3.5m coming from the Adama move, spoke to an excited Dingle this morning & told him Traore was a poor mans Tony “cross the ball into the Holte end” Daley .
Daley did have some end product btw, always exciting to watch

I like Whelan too but he tires easily and last season we saw opposition attackers running past him. Thor is much better - he still has legs, allows Hourihane to operate further up the field and can score goals. I'd have Whelan on the bench as a 70th minute sub but not starting matches.
My 'Boro mate told me Traore was average until Pulis came in and made him work properly. I suspect it's all about the manager, so he could do well at Wolves or he could be a disaster.

Traore is never going to work properly especially for 90 minutes, always thought he would have made an outstanding athlete, wrong sport!

Just watched the live interview on youtube with John McGinn. Seems a really nice lad and ambitious to do well for us.
Looking forward to seeing him play.
Glad we've got him!

This is the first signing for ages that I have got excited about, young, dynamic, Hibs fans think he is brilliant, other people talk highly of him, as long as he settles down here can see him making a big impression!
All for a good price as well, may I add!

WOW, what a difference three weeks can make. Today we are using words like young, dynamic and highly thought of.... In our wildest dreams we could not have imagined a transfer window like this, seems to get better each day

Looks like we're going to miss out on Bryan, had his medical and everything, but Fulham have come in at the last minute... He's getting a lot of stick, but if a Premier league team have come in for him, you can't really blame him, although there are rumours that he's actually signed for us, and wants a move already, which would put a different slant on things... It's a shame though, as it's about time we had an actual decent left-back, rather than one that 'can do a job' or 'will do'.

avfctransfers1 confirmed that the Bryan deal is now definitely off, but we've got 'other irons in the fire'... I've seen Vinagre, Rico Henry, and Knudsen all mentioned as possible alternatives... I say it's about time we had a decent left-back, but Amavi wasn't bad, only just missed out on the France world cup squad, and Bennett has done pretty well at Cardiff by all accounts, for whatever reason a lot of players find it hard to thrive here, but go on to do better elsewhere.

I liked Amavi too, he's the kind of player I wish we had now for a PL push (see also Gueye and Veretout). Shame about Bryan, we'll get our revenge on Fulham for all of this!

Bryans conduct in this is abysmal, you could perhaps argue that Villa have dodged a bullet when not signing a man whose word is flaky and integrity zero. Ditto Bristol City and Fulham FC. I'll have a little chuckle to myself if Bryan gets a season ending injury early doors.

I can see your point but I genuinely think his 11th hour change of heart was simply to do with timing and allied to - and quite understandably - any player's desire to play at the highest level.
Yes it's a pisser that he was so close to signing but could you really blame him once he knew a Prem club was after him, cos I don't.
Similar sort if thing happened to me once job-wise in that I'd been accepted onto the Graduate Teacher programme for primary schools and got one of only 2 sponsored places in Devon. Would have got 9k per year for the 12 months before I became a newly qualified teacher.
Right at the point where I was about to sign on the dotted line, I got offered a job (which I didn't think I'd get) managing radiology at a local hospital on 50k per year.
2 kids and a mortgage meant I took the radiology job and pissed the primary school/GTTR programme people off mightily.
Do I regret it to this day? Yes, I still feel like a horrible flaky fecker 16 years later cos I did let down a lot of people.
Was it the right thing to take the money and run, morally probably not but I've had a much more comfortable life financial security-wise.
So I can't blame Bryan for getting the best deal he can, we move on, our day will come and we will be up there playing the likes of Man City soon, of that I'm sure.

I wouldn't have minded so much if he had joined a 'proper' PL club but bloody Fulham with their 10,000 fans, hope they get relegated and we pass them on the way!

My Celtic fanatic mate is really pissed off with his board for messing around over McGinn and is 100% convinced we have a proper player on our hands! Reckons in a couple of seasons we will have the 'big' boys circling round him? I pointed out that we keep who we want these days!

If it makes you feel any better (it did when I read it), Fulham got gazumped late yesterday by Brighton for a right back, name of Montoya. What goes around, comes around as it will also happen when we get promotion and Fulham come back down.achilles wrote:I wouldn't have minded so much if he had joined a 'proper' PL club but bloody Fulham with their 10,000 fans, hope they get relegated and we pass them on the way!

I'm not that bothered by Fulham, I suppose I should be considering they denied us premier league football and then beat us to Bryan... But losing the play-off final was probably a blessing in disguise... And whilst signing Bryan would have been useful, there are other left-backs we can loan in who'll probably do just as decent of a job... I don't really care if they come back down or stay up... I think it was Bristol City who acted strangest in the situation, they lost one of their best, if not their best player, and made fun of the fact that he didn't join us, on twitter.

Yeah but bristol city are classless wankers with a sugarbag from Essex in charge.
I'm currently sat in Bristol airport and having to suffer their fucking dreadful accents.
