With these young loan players coming in it says to me that Brucie doesn't think our youngsters are yet ready not that they wont be given a chance, more like see what other players your age are doing so get out there and do your stuff and push them aside. We could chat for ages on the pros & cons of this but heres a thought Grealish was in the England squad recently and was deemed not good enough to get a game, this lad from Spurs was, so it says to me pull your socks up and push your way into the team to ALL of our Academy, we shall see if it works. But anyway there have been moans on here for ages to have more flair when moves are made there are those that are still not happy.

The 20-year old is one of the most highly rated prospects in Spurs’ ranks and starred as England Under-20s won the World Cup last month.

Got to be happy with this move Villa fans? happy?? don't be silly.

The Villa site have a gallery of the lad training, and hes doing it with a smile on his face, which IMO is always a good sign with ANY player, long may it continue. Dancing Banana

Each to their own view. I think it's a small club signing without any view of the future.

It also shows that Bruce has no intention of playing Gabby and Hogan together, so it is going to be Gabby up there on his own! To me this just gets worse as I can't see who is going to score the goals for us until the return of Kodjia.

Grealish was going to take that position and has the number 10 jersey. He's out so there's a hole. It makes sense to bring in a good player on loan to fill that position.

The spurs lad seems to be a very decent prospect. He seems to be a little similar to Delph to me, i.e dynamic, runs with the ball, has skill and can score a goal. Think it's a positive move on our part. Last season Fulham, Leeds and Huddersfield manipulated the loan market brilliantly. I mean half of Huddersfield side were loan stars FFS. Hope we can get in Ryan Kent aswell as he looks like a real talent on that left wing.

Don't give a sh/t about "view to the future", the clear objective is to get promoted by hook or by crook. Then we can worry about the future once we're eating at the big table again.

From what I gather, Onomah plays as a central midfielder at youth level, but Tottenham have used him further forward for the first team, and I imagine that's where we will be using him, with Grealish out injured. But it's good that he can play deeper too, meaning that Hourihane and Lansbury will have some competition.

He won't be blocking the progress of our youth either because we don't really have any coming through who are remotely similar to him, and this guy is on the verge of the Tottenham first team, a side that have just finished second for two years running in the Premier league, he's on a different level to all but one or two (Green and RHM) of our youngsters.

Interesting to look at our midfield this campaign, Jedinak, Whelan, Hourihane, Lansbury, Onomah and Bjarnasson and compare it with the one that started last season, Westwood, Gardner, Bacuna, Jedinak and Tshibola, the proof will be in the pudding, but looks like we've improved quite a bit.

That's just one argument. Then you got the fact that this young lad isn't the quality people expect. We're signing a bang average inexperienced PL teenager and expecting it would make a world of difference. When in fact it will hinder our own youngsters progression, create negative morale, develop rival clubs players for free. Best case it works out and he turns out to be the cockney Maradona. Spurs take him back, we're left with a hole to fill again, now with less experience and development of our own youngsters.

Problem here is that people think he will be the difference between championship and Premier League, a notion which is so absurd it's hard to find where to begin.

Oh well we have our own views I guess. But when it's clear this was a shite signing I'm gonna point it out. Repeatedly.

Based on the likely outcome. Football is a team game. Our squad is arguably the strongest in the division. Our own youths could have done the job most likely. Instead we are pretending some young kid from spurs will make a big difference to the cost of our own youth and academy.

Likely - you like that word. It's not fact. None of us know who will be good or who won't be.
Our management team see these players day in and day out, they obviously feel the new lad is an improvement on what we have.
Let's not make our youth players out to be something they ain't.
Time will tell on all of them, if they are good enough they will force the hand of the manager and make the break through.

Bruce said the other day that we might have to sell one or two that we don't want to. I wouldn't be surprised if one of those was Hourihane, I hope not, I'd sooner get rid of any of our other central midfielders, but for Bruce to prefer Bacuna over him is just bizzare, and then a youngster who's had no pre-season with us.

People say that Hourihane has been disappointing, but at least he offers a goal threat, and creates chances, for me I'd have him in the side over Lansbury everytime.

I'd have Hourihane in the side over both Lansbury and Bacuna.

Lansbury is a bit of a nothing player IMO. Not really sure what it is he's supposed to excel at.

I honestly think Bruce favours him (Lansbury) because he's a 'character', as that's all Bruce seems to talk about, I think he thinks that if a player's loud around the dresssing room, then they can handle the Villa Park atmosphere better, for some reason; he reminds me of a PE teacher who'd favour the popular pupils over others just because they're popular and not because they're necessarily better at sports.
