Can we actually win a game.
Re: Aston Villa v Wolverhampton Wanderers-Saturday 15th October 2016 5.30pm KO. Build up and Match Thread
It's been shown game after game that we don't play with pace and our work rate is poor. Teams in this division need this and we just don't have an answer to those that play that way.

McCormack had a bad game but I still think he's a far better player than Kodja. Jedinak is the let down for me I thought he was as the missing link but he's so slow it's unbelievable. Just shows how much faster the pace is in the championship compared to the prem.

Jedinak hasn't had a good game since we signed him. I was expecting him to be the link between the back and the forwards, he has been so disappointing, he has created more chances for the opposition than he has for us.

What a dogshit performance that was, Wolves fans must be disappointed they didn't take all the points, I thought we had already reached rock bottom but the second half yesterday......
Bruce has his work cut out with this bunch.
Where does McCormack play?
What does McCormack do?
Why was he worth £12m?
Elphick needs a picture of the bloke he is supposed to mark stuck to the post when he does his childish pre match ritual, he may realise what he is in the team for.
Richards, Hutton, Cissoko, professional players my arse.
Tish the saviour? some of you guys must be seeing something I'm not, at least Bruce was brave enough to take Jedinak off, how slow is this guy?
Surely this run cant go on much longer, are we cursed?

I wonder if Bruce is actually contemplating playing himself against reading. ? He probably has the same mobility as our defence but at least he knows how to defend and mark a player. :-)

We didn't seem to have any defensive structure and when we attacked it was all very random.
I remember when Sherwood started, he said that our biggest issue was that we never had any players in front of the ball and that was evident again yesterday.
One ball was whipped across the box and had Grealish taken a bit of a punt and actually had a run toward the goal, he'd have been Johnny-on-the-spot. But no one seems to have the job of attacking the front post, no one attacking the back post, no midfielders running into the box late...
McCormack was going mental that he was putting the pressure on the Wolves backline but no one else was being bothered meaning the dogs just walked it out of their own half. But then I couldn't figure out if we were trying to man-mark (which we weren't), defend in a zone (which we weren't) or use a pressing game (which we weren't). So it looked like we were just chasing the ball like a bunch of 6 year olds.
Fail to plan, plan to fail!
The only real good thing was seeing Bruce on the sideline barking orders. Although he seemed rather quiet when there was a break in play due to injury, when I thought he could have been having a chat.

Steve Bruce post match comments; "it's alarming how we tired early 2nd half". "It's obvious now why they've been conceding late". "Some players could be in better condition". Damning. Utterly damning on the previous coaching staff and the players themselves. The job is bigger than anyone might have imagined

Agreed. Bruce really has to get to work on the training ground with this lot asap.Dazzle wrote:Steve Bruce post match comments; "it's alarming how we tired early 2nd half". Easy thing to say. Lets not forget these guys are playing 90 minutes at least twice a week. That alone would get you to a reasonable level of fitness . we weren't great in the first half - that wasn't fitness.
If I were bruce i would drill the players into some sort of a system. we just seem like headless chickens - especially going forward

I moan about this all the time. Fitness is a basic requirement, there is no excuse for being tired. Tennis players frequently play 3 or 4 hour matches, sometimes even more and then they do it again a day or two later. Footballers are tired if they've played 2 90 minute games in a week! Plus tennis players play every point, they don't have time to amble about while the play is the other end of the pitch. Get some tennis fitness coaches in or maybe watch a bloke like Andy Murray train, then see how many of these overrated, overpaid tossers have the nerve to say they're tired!!

They're unfit because they aren't at AVFC to get 3 points. They are here to cash in a paycheck and that's the whole reason why we are were we are.

I was surprised by Bruce's comments after the game...
https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/2016/10/15/manager-verdict-bruce-wolves
In a nice way... brutally honest and he can see what we've all see. For some time now!

Spotting the problem is the easy part? Solving the problem is a completely different issue? But hey that's why these managers get paid the big bucks isn't it?

Bruce did say the fitness problem was sortable quite quickly if i'm reading things right in the media? So how long does it take to get fitness levels up exactly? Surely it's going to take a fair bit of time isn't it?
Jedinak has indeed been a huge let down thus far.. he is one who does look unfit you'd have to say, along with others who have barely played like Richards & Hutton, then you have some who are totally out of shape like Kozack & Gabby who have some way to go now the slate has been wiped clean for them.
Also we have the likes of Adomah and Amavi who don't appear to be match sharp as yet either.
Remind me.... weren't we told by RDM et al that pre season had been great and fitness levels wold be good?

Yeah, what do you a bit fitness. If you have ever been into a serious sport - the one thing you don't do is suddenly whack up the intensity - especially with 3 games a week. I doubt bruce will get them for double training monday - with a game tuesday ? - same really applies before saturday - no big increases prior to that. (if we do watch the injuries roll in)
Nah, I think its just brucey demanding more from his players.
IMO what we need more than anything is a system. Maybe there was a glimmer of that with Grealish and Albert out wide yesterday - not that effective yesterday - but once we have a system we can rotate players in and out - or make slight tweaks . But at the minute there is very little method or pattern to our play. hopefully that will come,

Every manager we have had recently, and we all know how many that is, has said when they first come in that the team is not fit, (and we can all see that nothing has got better) you would assume they then set about getting the team to the right degree of fitness NOT SO we are still as we were. Lets hope that Brucie gets into em and makes em train till they are sick, for professional players it makes you wonder what they do all week, lets make it happen NOW.

These little niggly injuries we keep getting proves to me the team aint fit, when you train and play every week they don't happen so often.

Sabotage in the kitchens at BMH?
Are gabby richards and bacuna pissing in the drinking water to get their revenge on the abuse they deserved? Is guzan sending frozen piss to gabby too? Is Westwood the culprit, the little shit?
Anybody got columbo's number? I'm on to something, maybe we need that tit with the mullet from the Da vinci code to help us figure it out?

Agreed 100%. It's hard to improve when you don't know what you're trying to achieve.

I had a minor heart attack back in February (no stent's needed) and at the ripe old age of 51 I walk my little girl to school every day, that's 4 school run's every day averaging about 4miles a day 5 times a week, I jog on average 3/4 times a week (distance varies) about 20 miles maybe more, I also swim about 30 lengths (25meter pool) every weekend and I still think I'm unfit, surely a professional footballer should be 100% fitter than me, after all some off them earn more in a week than I used to in a year.

Trotters I recorded the game and the 2nd half it reverted to a game from the Spanish League so I turned off and went back to bed. WTAF?

Are you sure that wasn't just the half-time stuff?
For some reason my recording failed but Foxtel have a catch-up feature where you can watch shows from earlier by streaming them. It's only good for something like 6 hours after the original show has aired but that's what I did.

Yes that was the half time stuff.
they don't have people in the studio so just play highlights from some game, and this time is ws the spanish league. I went out to get a cuppa and came back in to it and thought my recording ha also gone tits up... thankfully a quick forward and the players came back out :)
