Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
Just seen Downing is only used by Boro as a squad player, my mind began to wonder would he be a decent signing for cheap?

Also Balotelli being linked with a loan and us offering to pay 50% of his wages, this is the world class player Dr T was talking about i reckon.

@willows17 its a big offer so sounds likely. Hernandez still a possible but difficult to do deals with Hull..
Who is the "big offer" about?
I think it's the Valencia some media saying we have offered £12million for him but have to wait for them to sign Bony from City before they will let Valencia go. (I think)

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
Would love it if Richards went. On another note I said the other day I know it's like a spoilt kid but I was disappointed that we hadn't signed anyone for 24 hours. I'm getting the same feeling today, it's driving me mad all these players we keep getting linked with but nothing concrete. I know that stuff will be going on in the background but if we don't confirm another definite signing soon I'm going to scream and scream until I make myself sick. ....

Yes i was being serious but in a gut wrenching way I know he loves to jump out of tavkles and how detested he is by us but for the Championship he did well for Boro is all my thinking is tbh, creative cheap midfielder was my only thought but agree wouldn't go down well

I just want that striker in that can lead the line. We simply can't get promoted without that signing and it has to be right. I think we're entitled to be excited in regards to how it pans out.

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
Surely it would be an either / or for Valencia or Hernandez So maybe not all is well with the Hernandez option?
Sounds like there is a potential deal to be done with Valencia if the Spammers get Bony, who has apparently agreed a move to China so would only be available short term which suits all parties.
We will soon find out no doubt

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
I think it will happen. (Edit: in response to Joppe''s point)
So here's a general question to anyone:
If we could only have one more signing, would you go for a striker or an attacking midfielder?
Personally I'd go with an attacking mid, as I think we do. Have options up front (although the AN Cup will hurt us). We are bereft of goals from midfield atm.

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
To be honest with you De Kuip, I was happy with the team after Jedinak arrived... That was the moment I thought to my self that we had a team for promotion push.
If I am greedy I would go for striker. I read today that we have created most chances in the league (48 or something) It would be nice with a real finisher..

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
Definately a striker.
Two reasons. 1) we're struggling to score goals. 2) RDM's 4231 tactic works fine with Ayew, McCormack, Grealish, Green, Bacuna rotating. Can even throw in a few more like Murphy.
We need a striker more than anything. No point having a great trifecta feeding balls when our main striker is Gestede. The man could compete with Ciro for the right of his last name.

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
I have no idea who we will get next (if anyone) all I know is that the DR has been good to his word and him and RDM have brought in so very good players so I sleep easy knowing that we seem to be in safe hands (at the moment) and I'm sure that who ever else they bring in will be if the quality needed.

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
That's a tough choice between an AM or Striker. We really do need both in my opinion. If i did have to choose i would say AM as you would hope McCormack & Gestede would give us enough to be there or there abouts and IF Ayew can finally start to stick a higher ratio of chances away we should be ok if you add some from elsewhere in the team too.
The bit in all that which worries me is Ayew i have to say as his end product is not up to scratch and wasn't last season either. It's all very well being good at looking good but if he doesn't convert it's an issue.

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
How many world class players are out there? On ability then Balotelli is definitely one.
If we are able to manage him properly then it could be deal of the century. If it goes wrong then we need to make sure we can send him back.

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
Id prefer a creative midfielder for a few reasons: they'll obviously help the strikers do what they're supposed to do; it'll give us options when suspensions and injuries kick in over a long season; they'd hopefully also chip in with some goals themselves.
