Really hope Burton stay up.
I hope Burton get smashed this Saturday, after that they can win as often as they want!

villa & derby are the ones to watch out for, preston may be 5 points off but have a terrible away record & tough fixtures.
I also think Leeds need to look over their shoulder
Derby are 3 wins in 12 and 7 points behind us. They haven't won an away game in 2017 and 4 of their last 6 are away. I'm not at all worried by Derby.
Villa are 9 points behind us and have to play Reading, Fulham and Brighton. Also not worried about them at all.

Ah sorry mate I probably should have read the match report. I assumed the 1-0 scoreline was as a result of nufc getting the rub of the green and the win, rather than a disallowed pen.Villa_Dan wrote:The fuck up benefited Burton mate

Leeds will make the play offs no doubt.
Anyone think we can sneak in there ?
Would love it but i think we will just miss out and have to wait another year. Build again in the summer to make sure we go up and do not come straight back down.

I've said it before and I'll say it again getting promotion or not, just keep this winning streak going and lets see what happens if we don't make it, the confidence it will give the team will be immense for next season, we needed to build some of this.

Re: Championship rivals thread
We would likely have to break some kind of World record for a non-stop winning run to even have a chance this season. Even then it is not certain we would do it as we also need Sheff Wed's, Derby, Fulham and co to have a very average if not poor end to the season.
If we can make up another 5 points over the next 3 games that still leaves us effectively 5 behind with 3 to play (Due to a lesser goal difference)...Not gonna happen in my view sadly but at least we are basically safe from a relegation battle now! That was the main concern after the horrid run of defeats not so long back so i'm enjoying the wins at the mo regardless. Especially when you consider it seems like about 5 back to back seasons of being embarrassingly bad losers week in week out!
So roll on next season.

The noses over on SHA forum nauseous over the idea that if they lose midweek (and they just drew with Rotherham so predicting they won't win again this season is valid), then we'll send them into the bottom 3.
This season might not be a total bust after all.

Just watched Newcastle v Leeds. Really good game.
Aleksandar Mitrovic. What a horrible little c*nt he is.
His sole mission in life seems to be trying to get other players sent off.
I could never get behind a team that contains Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Imagine my unbridled joy when the Barcodes conceded the equaliser in the 94 minute!!
Cheers

I Agree it was horrible to watch.
Sadly It did have an impact on the game however, so clearly that's his job. Distract, disrupt and rattle the opposition thus putting pressure on them and just as importantly (especially with a 52,000 crowd also on side) put pressure on the officials. ..It worked several times with a few decision swinging their way as a result. I think every team needs a bit of needle to be successful and that we do lack it actually. Sometimes the only way to unsettle a very well drilled side is by using such tactics too. At least they won't be around next season.

There was a point where Kyle Bartley was moaning at someone (the ref I think) when Mitrovic just wanders over and starts chipping in. Bartley immediately gives him a load of abuse.
At that point Mitrovic must have decided that Bartley should have a yellow card, because the very next phase of play, he angles his run so that he deliberately runs into Bartley, bounces off him, jumps four feet in the air and rolls over holding his face.
The ref does nothing but the stupid, gullible lino starts waving his flag and, lo and behold, Bartley gets a yellow, for doing absolutely nothing.
The player's reputation goes before him and yet the officials still allow him to dictate who gets booked and who doesn't which, last I heard, was supposed to be their job.
To answer your point, you shouldn't need a cancerous little gobshite like Mitrovic in your team to be able to win games. And if the officials dealt with these types of 'player' properly they wouldn't be allowed to prosper in our game.
I admit though, that when faced with this little fucker, you'd need to dedicate an official to him. One who ignores the game and just follows him everywhere. He'd be off the pitch within 10 minutes, but obviously this isn't possible.
It does highlight the need for the officials to have help from a ref in the stands, but that's a whole new debate.

Zola's been fired, so they'll probably get new manager bounce just in time to play us.

Re: Championship rivals thread
Not looking good is it, 80% of our goals come from Kodija who is now banned which will be enough to give them a huge lift as is & now they will have the new manager bounce added to brown envelopes going to the officials! Add to that they are desperate for the points and we clearly are on the beach!
All in our favour then
One thing this will show us is how much pride these players have in the shirt as there is literally nothing else to play for.

Bloody hope that you are right because I really can't face the consequences of that happening (it would be meltdown time)!

Redknapp - superb appointment - for us.
Isn't it funny, he's exactly the type of manager the snotnoses should have - bent manager for a bent club.
Will make it even more fun when we smash them next week and they can slink back to the sty, once more reminded that the city is ours.

Re: Championship rivals thread
Haven't got a Blackburn thread yet, so thought I'd park this info here:
Looks like we have an initial allocation of 4,300 seats with a second allocation of 3700 seats. That would be lower tier first, then upper. Be great if we took 8k away support. Not sure but I think I heard they would have to relocate some of their sth if we did take up the upper tier allocation.

My feelings exactly about this weekend's game now.
The pendulum started to swing in their favour the moment Kodjia was shown the red card, continued once their manager left and now they've appointed a 'name' which will give them all the lift they need to raise their game, no matter how rubbish he turns out to be.
It grieves me that they'll probably stay up on the back of beating us. Mind you, we did survive relegation by beating them in 2005, although we pretty much relegated them in the process.
Hey ho. I work in Manchester these days so at least I don't work with any Noses.
So that's just the In-Laws to deal with, then.

We have to beat them to stop any new manager bounce in its tracks, but I've got a feeling it will be a draw. That said I'm having visions of Hepburn-Murphy coming from the bench and scoring the winner. Would be nice to get just one thrashing before the season's over.

Newcastle Director Lee Charnley has been arrested; HMR are investigating transfer activity at the club. West Ham involved as well. There's speculation that they could be deducted points, could really do without them in the Championship next season.
