Team for the Championship??

I have read Clarke has £5m minimum release in the paper this morning & The Albion were interested again (The Sun)

That valuation seems about right to me, will he leave though?

I think we will regret it if he leaves, alongside the right person he is perfectly capable in the Championship.

I think we're going to be stuck with a lot of the players we as fans would rather be rid of, there's no way Tony's going to blow the kitty just on getting rid of cock ends like gabby, lescott and Richards

Agreed on Gabby but I think Lescott and Richards have ideas above their station and will fuck off voluntarily. Probably to the MLS.

One thing we need to get out the Championship is a 20 goal a season man.

That's where we need to spend the money.

It amazes me how much some of you know about players from the lower leagues.

It's the spine needs major surgery for me.
No.1 priority has to be a strong, quality captain. We need strong leadership which we've lacked for far too long.

Then a keeper. Guzan and co cost as many points as they save which is no good at all.

In defence we will likely need to replace one or two who will no doubt leave.

I can actually see Lescott, Clark, Baker and Hutton being good enough for top 10 in the Championship but we need top 2. Richards worries me although again his strengths may be handy in that league.

As for Midfield i think we need a new one. I've no doubt the Frenchies will want out and the rest are not strong enough nor gritty enough for the Championship.

Strikers: Surely Ayew will be off and Gestede is nothing more than an alternative option from the bench (as he was at Blackburn). So 100% we need goals and for me this is the most desperate area for concern.

We have some youngsters who could well break through but they need to be fed in gradually.

Villa win, seems like Black was wrong in sticking with the shit squad.........

We will see some of these kids next year for sure.......

Hopefully Sheff Weds won't go up and we can get Forestieri, like I've said before the bloke is quality, if it's goals your after then look no further than Adam Le Fondre, he'll be dirt cheap as a back up from the bench, who we get as main strikers though I'm not sure, Bentley from Southend as a new GK anyone ?

A couple of players i would like though are Mowatt from Leeds and also Cook they have, also as a striker partnership Dwight Gayle and MCormack although i am more for younger players signing and building a team to grow for years, we will need some experiance though maybe Barry from Everton in midfield or Barton, also like Will Hughes from Derby also from Derby Tom Ince 12 goals AND 8 assists this season not bad, Alan Judge 14 goals and 11 assists for Brentford amazing stuff,

But i would keep Ayew, Gana, Amavi, Gardner, Grealish, Sinclair, Clark, Westwood (because he is a Championship level player imo), Joe Bennet, Jed Steer(as No 1) and Baker plus young Lions like Sellers, Hepburn-Murphy, AndreGreen, Toner, Traore etc etc

I think £40 million is more than we need for a top two finish in the Championship especially with some of the young quality we already possess i wouldn't be shocked to see us have a net spend of "20 million approximately or less tbh.

How I'd spend the money would be

Mowatt - £7m
Dunk - £8m
McCormack - £10m
Ince - £8m
New keeper - £4m

Maybe add in a couple of top 4 youngsters on loan. Mix in the likes of Grealish and Gardner and Audrey Hepburn-Murphy. Sell a few wasters and lose 1 or 2 of our better players from last season.

I live in Leeds and Leeds fans really don't rate Mowatt. Cook would be a better option. Can anyone see Barry coming back. Wages would be too high I suppose.

Barry being 36 now Mike? New manager coming into Everton from Seville reports suggest would release him probably, maybe there is a few Premier Clubs who would take a punt on him but i think coming back to Villa under Moyes would tempt him imo mate.

Cook looks a player said i would like us to go nab him, as for Mowatt thats surprised me he sounds to be the next bets thing and bits i have seen on highlights looks decent, always best to go off the actual fans feelings on a player imo than what bits we get to see ourselves and hear.

Mowatt was their player of the year 12 months ago. Admittedly I haven't watched him much this season but I still rate him. Maybe he's suffered under Leeds uncertainty? A few of our players have!

Barry coming back would give us some great experience and he won't need pace in the championship.

I think Gana is going regardless of our new owners funds. Veretout I'd like to keep hold of. Westwood can be useful but not relied upon. Barry and Mowatt would fit in nicely IMO

Will be grealish and Westy only left behind in midfield, some we don't want and some we cant keep will go.......

I echo Mowatt and Barry (captain)? along with Lansbury. With Gardner and Grealish as works ongoing, I too rate Veretout who I would retain with Amavi and controversially I know but I would keep Okore.

Keeper is paramount along with another striker as I think Ayew goes.

I agree Trotters some really knowledgeable folks on TBAR I'm learning as I go googling some of the names mentioned, keep it up folks really interesting suggestions. It's all gonna be down to the new manager and obviously the funds Xia provides. If it's Moyes and he has 50m then you'd hope a decent squad will be put together.

Personally the likes of Clark, Hutton, Westwood, Guzan, Gabby, Richards, Lescott, Bacuna etc are all shown the door. One thing I heard is most of the players bar Adama have relegation clauses that reduce the wages? So if that's true then some players will have no choice but to leave.

I also think Grealish, Adama, Gil, Veretout, Green and co could really flourish next season...having a little less spotlight on them will hopefully aid their development and see their respective games grow.

I really feel for Hutton. Not very talented, but he's shown more heart and effort this season than the rest of the squad combined.

I'd keep Hutton. He gives a shit and always grafts for the cause. Plus he'd get away with murder in the championship
