Note to Tbar hierarchy, I would like to see the implementation of a vote down option, I will enter into debate on some peoples points but sometimes there's no point.

I'm disappointed, I've just been out for a couple of hours and I come back to crap we don't need on TBAR.

RhodyVillan, I've checked your posting history and it seems that you're posting for effect. The position you've taken about "nothing else matters" because you hate Sherwood, makes it impossible to debate with you. Your insulting language and attitude is in breach of TBAR rules.

At 3-1 we needed a leader on the pitch to make sure that we held on to the '3 points'. Hopefully we'll be more determined next week.

If we go into the season with so many players needing to adjust to the prem and the current defence we are in for some very embarrassing results.
Sherwoods tactical ability needs questioning. How can he reward Baker with a new contract?
How can he persevere with MR at centre half.
How can he go into a season with no quality or even capable right back?
How can he go into a new season with the a goalkeeper who he publicly dropped last season due to performance and then reinstate him as number 1? Bunn has not impressed me as any sort of cover/ competition.
We have some exciting prospects that need developing. Puting inexperienced players in front of that defence could effect their ability and confidence.
Over to you Mr Sherwood make some decisions.

In fairness, I can see why TS wants to play Richards as a central defender. He has the ability to carry the ball out of defence and commit the oppositon to closing him down which, in turn creates some space in Midfield. However, the principle need is to defend in an organised way and it aint looking good,so far.

Suggest Richards to right back with new central defender paired with either Clark or Okore (when fit). Baker should go on loan to learn his trade.

Watched Van Djike(?) play for Celtic earlier - he can both defend and looks really comfortable coming forward with the ball at his feet. Need someone like him.

Until we strengthen/change at the back, my advice to MR is keep it basic, get used to being there and every time you get the ball give it to Amavi pronto!

That needs to be the focus of our defensive training from now on. Keep your shape, and keep it simple. Play as a unit rather than react as a bunch of individuals. Ego has no place in a back four.

It's got nothing to do with what happened after he went off, he needs a lot of time and work. He hasn't become bad player overnight but 1st impressions are what they are and unless you are blind, he doesn't look like a CB.

The first 10-20 minutes we were totally on the ropes. We conceded once, but they could easily have scored three. Richards was caught out of position more times than I can honestly remember, and he fucked up the offside at one point and that was a goal nine times out of ten. And this was Forest

There's no point pretending he looks suited for a CB roles because he doesn't.

It's absurd that people talk about a RB and a CB being purchased when we have a top class RB in Micah. I don't give two shits about what TS promised him. Who the hell do they think they are. We're Aston Villa, not some pub team that gives the local footy star free reigns. Play the lads in whatever positions they are capable of. This isn't string theory physics.

Sherwood won't be satisfied with yesterday's defensive display. He and Wilkins know they have to fix it. I'll wait and see what their reaction is.

The top teams attack with one wing back, and the other three defenders work in a disciplined angled line. The only thing that changes is the angle of the line depending on which wing is attacking. It's easy to play because it's very visible to each defender, but it means burying egos and playing for the team. We're defending as a bunch of individuals at the moment, with each defender reactively going to where "HE" thinks he needs to be, rather than letting a system do the job.

I am far from a Hutton fan but if we do not sign a quality RB, he is much better in a 4 then Bacuna. Until Crespo gets fit (still unproven) its Hutton or Niall Mason for me.
