Fingers crossed for the right results this afternoon.

I've said for ages Given should be number 1, don't rate Guzan - a keeper that has one of the weakest kicks, lacks composure coming for corners etc -

Unbelievable Jeff!
Fair play to the Villa today, after the initial mis-hap they really fought hard and for stretches of the game outplayed City. At this end of the season with a Premier Leaguen future in the balance it's difficult to swallow, but City are the league champions at the end of the day and under Lambert we would have been dead in the water today.

Well, we managed to defeat ourselves today.
Two good maiden goals from us, one good one from them, two towering failures by Guzan and Richardson to gift them their other two goals.
Watching Richardson today I couldn't help wonder now he's in the twilight of his career if he's picking up bungs from a betting syndicate somewhere. I really don't want to see him in a Villa shirt again, and I'd be amazed if Given wasn't in goal for the remaining League matches.
I hope Cleverley stays.

Yes benteke was onside so was a penalty, but why oh why doesn't nzogbia ever learn to play the 1st time pass he always wants that extra touch, regardless of the result we now have a team that doesn't know when it's beat.
Also time for Guzan to be dropped that howler has been coming, as his kicking is beyond atrocious.

Man City were poor and needed our help to beat us. We generously gave them two goals and then fought back with a lot of guts.
Top marks for effort, but we have to cut out the silly errors.

We've lost and I'm annoyed at the goals we've conceded but those players played with some pride and confidence. That's Sherwood.
I think we'll get points in our remaining games.

Bacuna's penalty wasn't noticed by the ref so I think the two ignored penalties cancel out each other.
We do go on about our midfield not scoring, now we just need Grealish banging them in, imagine the trouble he could cause.

Re: MAN CITY V ASTON VILLA 25 APR 5:30PM
For large parts of that second half, we absolutely played City off the park (would love to know how much our squad cost to assemble compared to theirs?) and we were SO unlucky not to get anything from it.
There was of course the dubious decision against us which we always seem to get whenever we go to Manchester Utd or City, and had we got the penalty we deserved it would most likely have been 3-2 to us. Didn't expect anything from this game, but it's still disappointing to lose in such a fashion.
The fight in the team is evident though, it's great to see, and gives me faith that we can get points from all of our remaining games! UTV!

Well that has cocked up my day. Ok a total fail by guzan, I have no doubt he will be hurting. Second half we played really well and we hurt city, could not believe the poor decision from the lineo the beast was on side and was taken out by hart, the very least it was a penalty but who get those at the etihad, no way would he also be sent off. Well on a positive note we need to win the next two games.
We need to start a lot better than we did today. Utv vtid

That's really pissed me off, we deserved at least a point. Yes Benteke was on side but why the hell didn't N'zogbia play it earlier?? The guy has skill but absolutely no football brain every decision he makes is the wrong one. Don't even get me started on Carlos pass to an opponent Sanchez!!

I had us down for a draw, but look at the bright side, we are playing better, if Lambert was in charge we would be bottom of the league.
We will pick up points in the next games. This team is fighting till the end. Tim has put belief in this team, well done.

I hope this isn't a performance we look back on and say we played so well against a very good team but ultimately took nothing and it cost us. We need points again and if we play like that should get them but I'd be happier if they were on the board already. Richardson and Bacuna have got to go now. Let's get Hutton and Lowton back in as they never let us down really. Can't believe I'm saying this either but we missed Charlie today!

Bacuna has been very good for us but struggles today. Richardson is stealing a living - no way is he a professional footballer.
Delph not at his beat but still head and shoulders above everyone else except...
....Grealish. just shows how fucking clueless Lambert was to ignore him. This lad will be quite something.
Worryingly though he's one of only a few players we have that can take on a player. We need more.
Guzan; what a mess of a goalkeeper he's become in the last few months. Betting syndicates were me ruined earlier and I have often wondered if he's placed money on himself to hoof it out for a throw x number of times and this howler today makes me think he's either a dodgy crook or a dodgy goalkeeper. Time to bring in Shay to finish the season. And I'll be gutted to see Guzan take the goalkeepers jersey on May 30. Hopefully that's Given's to keep.

And Benteke needs to change his first name by deed poll from Christian to Offside. He pissed me right off for 90 mins.

Gutted that we couldn't get at least a point from that game. It's a shame 3 individual mistakes cost us 3 points because Sherwood set the team up brilliantly. "Tactics Tim"... Psh... Shows how little Spurs fans know. He seems to have a great gameplan every match and adapts the team to counter the oppositions unique threats, something we all hoped Lambert could do for us.

Re: MAN CITY V ASTON VILLA 25 APR 5:30PM
I've just watched MOTD and I think they shouldn't have had a penalty from Bacuna, falling over in the box isn't just cause.
Something appears to have spooked Guzan, I can't think of any other reason he had such a terrible match. We need Given in now, no time for messing around.
Richardson I think isn't a terrible midfielder, maybe 80th minute substitute for fresh legs but he's not in any way, shape or form a defender.
Sanchez and Westwood don't work well on the pitch together, They both like to control the midfield and get in each other's way. One or the other (especially with Cleverley and Delph) and have an extra attacking player on.
We need Gabby back as soon as possible. I think had he been playing we could well have won that, he certainly would have played Benteke in sooner. Saying that, N'Zog played him in fine, and Hart definitely went for Benteke after the ball had passed him so we'll have to put that down to ManC having 12 men.

Re: MAN CITY V ASTON VILLA 25 APR 5:30PM
No doubt we shot ourselves in the foot with some avoidable mistakes, but once again a performance that should of resulted with a win. We can be really happy with the performance, even though it hurts to lose it so late.
Sherwood has one or two things to ponder now, and it's the things that fans have been talking about anyway, and they are mostly enforced situations. Firstly there is a decision to be made over the goalkeeper position. Does he drop Guzan after that big mistake, or does he send him out next game to show character and belief? Guzan, for me, has been looking a little suspect for a number of weeks and I'd be seriously looking to bring in Given the very next game to avoid the talk around it, remove any negative and talking point that can surround the next game. However i think Sherwood will send Guzan out next game. The next decision to make will be the full backs. Cissokho is back in the squad and to us fans on the outside the decision to replace Richardson with Cissokho looks a no brainier. Same sort of problem approaching with Bacuna/Hutton, though I think Bacuna has done ok. Then we move on to the big decision.........does Agbonlahor come back into the team?! I think we've played a style that suits us better with Benteke the lone man up top, allowing us to get an extra man into midfield, and that extra man has been Grealish! We don't look like getting overrun in midfield now, and it's clear it allows us to press high. I like it.
Over to you, Mr Sherwood!
