Not looking forward to this game at all. I predict a thumping and more misery for us.

I've acquired some weird sense of optimism, maybe I'm giddy at the thought of Dein coming in but I think not only will we see a better showing, we'll actually win!

We have to win one at some point.
1-0 nick a goal against the run of play, then park the bus for 60 minutes.

Win. We have players improving as we go along, Bacuna is amusingly ok at LB and it's only a matter of time before Veretout and Ayew score some goals. I'm predicting Kozak won't be scoring his first Premier League goal of the year.

Genuinely think we caused Arsenal some problems on Sunday but lacked the killer pass and finishing touch.
Unfortunately the players that have that ability most likely won't be appearing on Saturday and so a loss looks more than likely again ...

1-1 draw for me too. 1 up going into the last few minutes where we give away a controversial equaliser.

Re: Newcastle v Aston Villa Saturday 19th December 2015 5.30pm kick off
I was permanently optimistic until Sundays game, where it became patently obvious that the players appear to have accepted our fate and the manager is completely clueless as to how to change anything!
The lack of desire is frightening. With the exception of Ayew and possibly Sinclair at a push....no other player looks remotely interested.
Remi Garde looks shell shocked and completely lost on the touchline, hardly an inspiring character. It is clear to anyone now, without claret 'n' blue blinkers at least, that he was a terrible appointment in the situation we were in....we are worse now then before. Yes we play lovely little passing triangles...but where's the intent? where's the desire? where's the passion?....we don't have any of it....and it has to start at the top.
Man for man we have one of the most talented squads in the lower half of the table.....but talent is worthless without desire.
Does anyone know when the last time Villa had a player booked for aggression or a bad tackle born out of frustration?...no nor me!
On Sunday I watched Diego Costa gesticulating to his own team mates during the game that they fell asleep for Leicester's goal...perhaps his English isn't good enough to tell them....but bloody hell he let them know.
Look around the Villa players when we gift goals away game in, game out....not one player bollox another, the manager, the coaches....none of them show any anger at what happens on the pitch.
At 0-2 on Sunday, Guzan passed a ball to Lescott on the edge of our own box when he had THREE Arsenal players around him....Lescott panicked and gave the ball away, luckily we weren't punished. Myself and my lad were gobsmacked to see Lescott just walk off up the pitch....never said a word to the prat in goal.
Imagine Guzan doing that to Dunne, Southgate, Ehiogu, McGrath...or Teale?...they'd have twatted him!!
We have no backbone, no bollox, no heart and no fight.
Aston Villa have been on life support for 5 seasons now....and I think Sunday, they finally switched the machine off!!

Are you serious?
Arsenal basically stopped playing after 40 minutes and hardly broke out into a gallop after that....when exactly did we trouble them?

When we had two free headers 6 yards out. Score those and it's 2-2. Bacuna narrowly missing the top corner. Adama hitting the side netting in injury time.

We've battled out points against City and Southampton, so why not get something at Newcastle? Who lets be honest have been more poor than good this season. They've also let in a goal more than us so defensively we won't be facing Arsenal 1995.

There was some proper fight at the Saints match, even if ultimately Sanchez fell asleep at a corner and we lost out on two points.

We have to hope that the 'we will be back' message from Fox is not seen as the club raising the white flag.

We are in rotten form, Newcastle on a roll, our record at St James is pi55 poor, our team looks devoid of any spirit, character or skill, based on these facts 2-3 Villa

Re: Newcastle v Aston Villa Saturday 19th December 2015 5.30pm kick off
A loss today and I think we're cemented into relegation. I honestly don't think any signings we make will make any difference. We are then talking about 3 wins and a draw just to get level, while all the others have to lose. A week ago I was thinking that three solid January signings would save us, but I just don't think so any more. It seems everyone are showing fight and beating everyone else. Norwich, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Sunderland, they are all getting points.
We simply have no fight. Even under Lambert, and this is not a dig on Garde, but even under Lambert the side had to graft and willingness to fight for points. We were shite, but we tried. Right now it feels like we are shite and we don't have an ounce of fight in us. Guess that's what you get for have a french side.
