Swansea v Aston Villa
A merry Christmas to all our predicting posters, and it's your chance to pronounce whether we're going to be good, bad or indifferent on Boxing day!
Swansea are a good team with some very good players, and if we're up for it we could see a cracking match. I'm going for a Christmas win with both of our presents coming from Benteke. 2-1 to Villa!

Re: Swansea v Aston Villa
Thanks for the thread-start.
A thrilling draw for me. Which I'll take to maintain our unbeaten run. Nothing better to build on than momentum. I can't see us winning but I can see us being entertaining again. And that's been a long time coming.

Play the same 3/4/3 or 3/5/2 and i think we can take them, swansea are very hit and miss this season, and as much as swansea away isnt an easy game, i think we have enough to take all 3 points.

Footballing style resurgence to continue in a tight game but think we'll edge it with a moment of brilliance from Benteke

Re: Swansea v Aston Villa
Xmas joy has finally kicked in so sod my earlier prediction of a draw...I'm going for a win.
I think we should go with the same formation as we did against Man Utd but encourage the two outside CB's to push up a bit higher (more like DM's) as Swansea won't carry the same attacking threat as Manure.

Re: Swansea v Aston Villa
With the exception of that debacle towards the end of last season, we generally have good games with Swansea. They're nice on the eye but I always feel like we can score against them (at least when Benteke is playing!) so it's usually an interesting battle.

Re: Swansea v Aston Villa
If ever there was an argument for wingers it's this Swansea team. Constantly in behind our wing backs so a formation change is desperately needed. 442 ideally but 4 at the back is a must. Okore having his worst game I've ever seen him have for villa at the moment but I guess he's set himself high standards

Re: Swansea v Aston Villa
Blimey, that was messy. A couple of observations:
1. Sanchez is getting better and better.
2. Gabby should have been shown red for that blatant dive after he was pushed in the back in the penalty area. These referees need to get their story straight.
I think this one can go down as just one of those days.

We deserved a point but I can not believe in the 3rd season of Paul Lambert I am still moaning about Gabby and Weimann.

Re: Swansea v Aston Villa
I'm not unhappy. I thought we played well and it was exciting, but Weimann and Agbonlahor need to buy some kicking boots in the January sales. Not being able to kick a ball properly is not acceptable at this level.
My major worry is Benteke's expression at the end of the match. He was totally pissed off with the woeful service yet again! Why would he stay if a decent offer comes in for him?

We deserved a point but for some shocking refereeing from that one-eyed prat.

Re: Swansea v Aston Villa
My only grumble is Tekkers needs to learn to head the ball down, if he had done that with that change it would of been in, but keeping it in the air it gives the keeper a chance, the pitch was soaked through so head it down and would of skidded past the keeper.

Re: Swansea v Aston Villa
Maybe I'm a grumpy, but still totally uninspired. Seemed to pass for the sake of it at times to simply say "look we pass now" seems like a shorter version of the same crap to me. we had to press at 1-0 so would have been surprised had we not.
Gabby and Weimann should be nowhere near this team, terrible players. If we get a sizeable offer for Benteke(Liverpool?) then I think he could push for a move. Need Westwood back, struggle to see anything in Cleverely that warrants 7m (I welcomed him here and wanted him to succeed)
On a positive, it's boxing day and there's food to eat and alcohol to drink, so UTV

Gabby and Weimann are not up to the job...end off.
I've said it before, but apart from relegation fears ( again ) nothing really will change at the Villa until Lambert is removed.
