No disrespect to anyone but Percy seems the only credible journo, I would take what he reports over anyone.

I don't think there was ever a move on at all I think he has more to worry about with his missus being pregnant than sorting out a move. I think it is our piss poor local papers and radio making up stories.
Westwood confirmed on Sky yesterday Delph was talking to them and was telling them he wasn't moving:

Re: Fabian Delph
As usual it's difficult to know what to believe. A player saying Delph said he wasn't going to leave, the club reportedly briefing journalists that a medical was arranged for Delph at Man City this weekend. As usual nothing definitive in the way of a club statement to fans. So we carry on the guessing game that is the daily life of a Villa fan.Karlos96 wrote:I don't think there was ever a move on at all I think he has more to worry about with his missus being pregnant than sorting out a move. Sherwood has just said that Delph had the opportunity to leave for Man City but mulled things over and decided to stay. Sherwood's delight indicates that he thought he'd lost Fabian.

Re: Fabian Delph
I think he was staying all along, journos automatically think everyone will leave if one of their darlings come calling.
I feel sorry for Southampton and Swansea fans, the press are forever trying to unsettle their squads.
I hope players look at the wealth of talent that moved such as Zaha, Rodwell, Sinclair, to name a few, and then look at how much football they played

Re: Fabian Delph
Well, he's staying now and regardless of the reasons, it's great news. I also think it's a smart move on his part. By being part of some obligatory English quota at City, he would have spent the next and best part of his career watching from the bench if he was lucky.
He would have been more likely to go to a club like Spurs or Liverpool than a team full of class players.
It's great to see that a player can still make the best decision for his career regardless of payment and the notion of stature, rather than walk blindly down a dead end at the guidance of some parasitic shitehawk.

Isn't it funny how the English quota is probably the most detrimental thing to the National team whilst at the same time pushing up prices of mediocre talent.

Still it's refreshing news that TS still say's it as it is and out loud! Thanks Tim.

Yep, saw that interview on AVTV too. Sherwood confirmed that Delph had the opportunity to join Man City but to everyones delight, turned them down. Fair play to the lad. He obviously talked it over with his family and maybe it wasn't the right time to move this summer, with having a newborn and all. I do expect him to move on at some point in the future, but it looks like we will have a replacement lined up for him with this new scouting network up and running...

HH stating Delph was on a Bosman and fans reaction is what changed his mind (???)
I'm sorry, but am I the only one who doesn't like HH? He's a self proclaimed "voice of the supporters" but he's just another wind up merchant.

Re: Fabian Delph
If this is true then what a distaster for TS and the club after all the feel good talk up about him staying.
IMO I just cant see it.
But if he does go after what he said last week then something is deeply wrong with the club.

Re: Fabian Delph
The Head of Communications (Tommy Jordan) needs to get on top of this right now. The media and press are treating Villa like a football, kicking us in all directions! Let's hear from you Tommy .... it's not as you've got anything else to do for God's sake!

Re: Fabian Delph
I was just about to say the same, VB. The press, knowing Villa's policy of total silence, are having a field day making up whatever they want about the club. I'm sick to death of it but the biggest problem is that it diminishes the club in the eyes of non-Villa supporters and therefore agents and players.

I wouldn't expect miracles from this guy, he's a Lambert pick/appointment. You're right though our PR/Media department DO need to start working. IF Delph goes now after his 'statement of intent' the other day then it's a shocking turn of events. He will be abused and we need to ask why? Why has he changed his mind again? What's changed since last week? (perhaps an extra 50k a week?)

I'd be disgusted in Delph if he went there now. I don't care about him leaving but the stuff he said literally days ago? That matters.

Maybe no one can speak without Lerners approval.
Maybe Lerner has employed yes men who are told what and when to speak?

Could his replacement have already been accounted for and the club were surprised that he stayed? Perhaps he was politely told to go because finances are so tight

Re: Fabian Delph
Our communications department need to grow a set of balls. They appear totally mute and that allows the Villa image to be turned into a joke and dragged through the mire.
I say "department" but is there anyone else apart from a lost and bewildered Tommy Jordan involved?
