Yeah you can't excuse Gardner's error there, just far too casual and that's how silly goals are conceded. Not sure why RDM is playing 442 again tbh because it's leaving our full-backs a little exposed at times. Mccormack is a little but of a worry aswell because he's hardly had a sniff.

You can see this squad's confidence is totally low because as soon as Luton scored the heads dropped!!..hope RDM sorts them out now and they come out and dominate like they did for the first half hour.

We sat off after scoring and let Luton work their way back into the game. We (should) have another gear or 2 in the 2nd half, Grealish needs to get on the ball more and Richards needs to be fined a weeks wages for those throw ins.

Decent opening 20-30mins and then stopped playing. I'm afraid Gardner has to be replaced at half time, we can't afford to carry a player waiting for something approaching form from him. Here's hoping for a better and more comprehensive 2nd half

We are so fragile still, Gardner for me is not good enough, Grealish needs to move a bit and quicker. Ayew needs to keep a lid on it, a ticking bomb when things dont go his way, he gets on the ball but needs to bring others into it he can't do it all, and I think McCormack is trying too hard, keep the ball moving and forward less of this passing backwards all the time.

I think the only bright side so far for me is that Green looks decent. He looks even better than Grealish if you ask me.

Lol that's priceless.  If it's any consolation I've been on the right thread and still been talking to myself!
First half thoughts:
We're still too light in midfield and they are finding loads of space in front and down the side of our back 4. I have to say Richards is doing well and apart from a couple of shaky moments looks like he wants it. Green and tish look a bit light, Gardner is Westwood but slower. Ayew OK but needs to link better with Jack and Mac.  Jack drifted out of the game as the half wore on but again it needs a midfield behind and around him to give him service. We've been out muscled too often but we have also looked very slick at times, some of the passing and movement had been great but not consistently. We allowed them to get back into the match with poor play from Gardner and amavi. Bunny has been OK flapped at one cross but got free kick anyway. Mac needs to get more involved but remember we have also hit the woodwork twice and after 22 mins posession was 71% 29% to Villa.
I'm expecting us to up the tempo and tighten up second half and get the second goal to make my 2-1 prediction true!

I think what has shocked me most in our first 2 games is the massive acreage of space that teams have enjoyed against us. We are ripe for the taking every time the opposition attack. We look slow, disorganised, out of position and panic stricken every single time anyone runs at us, into space in our half or plays a forward pass against us.
It's baffling, worrying and quite frankly embarrassing.

Pretty much. And this is why I think it's weird RDM doesn't stick to one tactic. Switching from 4231 to 442 when we can't get the first one right is just absurd. We got to start with the basics, and they include being comfortable with a single tactic.
