Who Will be the Next Villa Manager
Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
Kakacroom wrote:Hope it's moyes safest bet for player recruitment , hear a lot of pearsons were made by shakesphere and Walsh and RDM doesn't last long enough previously to judge , hard to call but for me moyes all the way 3 year deal
Betting news...............
RDM has moved out to evens now from being 1-5 2 days ago.
I had a pony on Moyes last week at 20-1, he's dropping fast at 9-2 now............. had a feeling he would go Celtic but now think he's waiting for Villa job.

Another candidate gone.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36351371
Manchester United will appoint Jose Mourinho as their new manager, BBC Sport understands.
Mourinho has been out of work since he was sacked by Chelsea in December.
With United failing to qualify for the Champions League under Louis van Gaal, the Old Trafford hierarchy are thought to have decided a change is required.
It is understood a deal with Mourinho was agreed in principle before Saturday's FA Cup final victory against Crystal Palace.

I have just noticed that the odds have been slashed on Moyes.

Just get it done quick!
I think Hollis/Lerner choice is Moyes?
Pearson/RDM/Moyes are the 3 candidates IMO and we just need the PL and FA to move their arses?

Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
So it would seem that we're really down to three candidates.
Pearson: we know this because he's been seen at the club three times.
Moyes: Why are people assuming he could be lined up?
RDM: Same question...where did this rumour come from?

Trotters can you imagine a club not considering Moyes??
RDM, I must admit that this is based on the money placed on him out the blue? The no smoke without fire logic.

If Xia comes out with a comment that he's had a letter from Alex Ferguson, I'm off to support someone else.

People on twitter quoting the Daily Mail, as saying that Xia has had face to face talks with Moyes, and that Moyes is top of the list.

I think Xia will want a big name and Moyes fits that bill?

For me, Moyes is a bigger risk than Pearson when you consider their experience over the last 2 years (which is as far back as I think you should ever go we these things). However in terms of being a draw for keeping certain players & attracting new ones, I guess Moyes has the pulling power.

A risk, yes. But for me a risk very much worth taking

Moyes would be good. Slightly worried whether he has the hunger anymore

Moyes or Pearson is better than Sherwood or Garde?
Which shows how far we have come since the takeover talks started.
Don't mind either and would love a sneaky bid for Dyche?

Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
For me the most logical would be Pearson or Moyes, if we were a premiership team I would say Moyes at the moment anyone is a gamble but wishful thinking has me under the impression that we are aiming to be back in the prem next season so will go for Moyes as I would like us to stick with the same manager for a few years.

Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
That's the advantage I see in a pointing Moyes. I think Pearson would get us promoted (assuming he's as good without the backroom staff he has at Leicester) and maybe 12 months of consolidation but then you'd be looking to upgrade.
Moyes maybe has that built in.

Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
Moyes down to 5/2 now, was 18/1 yesterday morning...............
RDM-Pearson up to 7/4 now
I've been on Moyes for a while, he fits us like a glove for now.
He is waiting to see what happens here or he would have been lined up by now.
He will be evens tomorrow, get on now

Not sure on Moyes, his stats since leaving Everton were not great.

Achieved the same points as LVG while spending £350m less than him. Not too bad. Just followed Fergie, he was never going to be a success. That's why Ol' Whiskey Nose chose him as his successor

Re: Next Villa Manager - Who WILL it be ?
I wasn't all that enthused about Moyes but when you look at what Ranieri has done at Leicester it makes me re-evaluate how I look at managers/coaches these days.
With Moyes he would be able to bring in his full backroom staff which is a bonus. He's also done exactly what we'd hope our club can achieve in the years to come which is to guide a team into the top four. Another intriguing thing is he has experience outside the British shores after his stint in La-Liga so one would hope that his philosophies will have broadened since then.
He's a big name who built up a club over several years on a limited budget, reached the pinnacle by being chosen as Fergy's replacement but things didn't work out. Maybe with us he'll be in exactly the perfect position? A big club he can build up but also have big funds to play with as well? Who knows.
In closing his record in the transfer market was second to none. Cahill, Miraless, Coleman, Stones, Lescott, Howard, Fellaini, Baines, Jagielka etc...the list is endless. And it shows he can operate both in the European and lower league markets too.
Then we have his track record of promoting youth...Rooney, Barkley, Rodwell etc...so he's a solid manager in most departments. I just hope his hunger to prove the doubters wrong is burning inside and he can play a massive role in the rebirth of this great club if he's appointed.
