AVFC Premier League History Stats

Just been looking at our record in the premier league, since it began in 1992.

Fascinating fact Number 1:

Before the 2010/11 season, we had record a negative goal difference 6 times. So in 18 seasons, we had a minus goal difference only 6 seasons!
Of those 6, 2005/06 was by far the worst with -25, but other than that figures of -4, -5, -1, -5 and -7 were recorded.

We are now on course for 5 straight minus goal differences. Not only that, but starting with season 2010/11, our goal differences have been: -11, -16, -22, -22 and currently we are on -19.

I found this quite staggering. Kinda looks like this on a line graph:

Who doesn't enjoy a good graph eh mardy! Shocking stats that these days are less shocking to fans, which is really an indication of just how sad things have got. The graph also ties up with what God was saying, proper investment was needed 4 years ago.

Well done for putting that together!

Are there any stats at all that back up the Lerner/Lambet axis of evil?

Ha...not sure, I'd have to hunt......the goalscoring graph is interesting though.....bar the odd 'spike', we've been on a general downward slope in terms of scoring goals since the premier league started:



Seeing as though the early season of the premier league consisted of 42 games, and we have only played 22 so far this season, here's the graph averaged out on a Goals per Game value:



The downward decline started before Paul Lambert took over as you can see. However, the problem is clearly accentuated over the last 3/4 seasons.

Bar the odd exception, you will see that generally we have always hit between 1.2 and 1.4 goals per game, no matter who was in charge. Our average goals per game for the course of premier league history is 1.21
