Will we win this time?
Re: Aston Villa v Leicester FA Cup 5th round Feb 14th/15th.
Don't be sorry bud :) I just don't see what the issue is, these things happen everywhere when a manager leaves. We've all had plenty of reasons to get angry at the club about in recent times but I'm just not seeing this as one of then, it'll likely only be for Sunday anyway.

I just remembered that Sid was Lambert's assistant manager for a time post-Culverhouse. So was Given.
There isn't anyone at the club who could step into the job, who'd want to, who didn't work with Lambert. I think the club made the decision when they did because there was a decent amount of time before the next game which mattered. This weekend is a take what comes match, the focus is on getting a new guy in ahead of the Stoke game

Tell you what though, I would piss myself laughing it a managerless Villa got up and absolutely spanked Leicester on the weekend. Can you imagine the media circus that would follow?
And I wonder if all it would take is someone to walk into BMH and say "Right lads, the dickhead has gone. What's it gonna take to put 5 past the Foxes and prove to the world where the problem was?".
For the first time in I don't know how long, I'm actually looking forward to watching a Villa match. It could go either way but at least, for a change, we're in with a bloody good chance.

Agreed. I was dreading it on Tuesday evening, but how easily 1 change can alter your thinking. I don't care about the result, I want to see them play without Lambert's tactics or shackles. These players know what they're doing, just set the formation and tell them to play like we know they can

Maybe he wasn't allowed to if you consider what we know now?kimbo wrote:Sorry, but if Sid doesn't want the job, then that's fine.
Lambert had from November to get an assistant. He didn't.
We are we are, really don't see the point in getting upset about it.

I'm not sure anything we know now means that, but even if it does it's not really one of those things were blame is all that relevant; ultimately it should have been sorted. So whether it was Lambert fannying around and the club not doing enough to make it happen, or the club placing the ridiculous restriction and Lambert not doing doing enough to get that changed, it was not good enough from all involved.Morpheus wrote:Maybe he wasn't allowed to if you consider what we know now?kimbo wrote:Sorry, but if Sid doesn't want the job, then that's fine.

Having an experienced assistant manager and a good first team coach would have made Lambert more vulnerable. In my opinion he didn't wan't people around who could step in and do his job.

If I had one opportunity to tell a managerless Villa team how to play against Leicester I'd want to know where Benteke and Gil are happiest playing and sort it out round them. Three at the back with two wing backs? Four at the back with an extra attacking midfielder? It's all possible to work out but at the moment the one player we need firing on all cylinders most is Benteke, and our player currently firing on all cylinders and looking most dangerous is Gil.

Under 21 assistant development coach apparently. No, I'd not heard of him either.

We've gone from nobody coaching on the training pitch to 4 in charge! So 4 times the performance on Sunday ?

Leicester are a decent side and Mahrez in particular is an excellent player, should be a good game. Sherwood watching from the stands, should add a bit of an edge to Villa's performance.

Hopefully he tells the Marshall bros who to play because they've apparently asked Lambert for team selection advice. Expect one last ride of the 4-3-3.

Not too impressed with the team the Marshalls have put out, perhaps McMumble gave em some advice.

1-0 down at half time, Sherwood hits the dressing room like a storm and we win 3-1
