Re: Protests must start.
Dan I'm Sorry for going off on one (thanks for the PM VB mate), I just find it bewildering how fans say there's nothing we can do but don't even try anything, surely just trying this one thing could make something positive happen but we have to try, I'm not saying burn your season tickets or have an empty stadium every home game just the one game, even if Randy doesn't care we will have forced the issue so at least the press start talking about it. Think about it, an empty premier league stadium on a world wide televised game is going to get someone talking.
I apologise again for been a dick head.

I think it would make more of an impact than a protest. The only coverage a protest gets is a few grainy pics on twiter or facebook.

That's a big, big post GV. I hope Villa Dan will accept what you've said and we can get on with putting the Villa right. We're not always going to agree with each other (it would be boring if we did) but it's how we disagree that makes us a different kind of site. It is possibly the only gesture they understand. We make posts on here, we write the club our thoughts but it does nothing. It wastes our time. We see the reaction to low crowd on Monday, a lower crowd would have even bigger reaction. Maybe we need to get the #1GameWalkOut message out.

STAY AWAY DAY!
I think you're right. It's a simple way of showing that we've finally had enough of the Paul Lambert regime.
It would be highly visible and impossible to ignore. If for one match we refuse to buy the lousy product that AVFC is selling, heads will roll.
I'm not naive enough to believe that everyone would support such action, but if enough fans feel the same way and are made aware of the simplicity of the action that needs taking, then it could achieve the result we desperately need for safeguarding Villa's future.
Now, does anyone have a plan for publicising "STAY AWAY DAY"?

Need a advertisement in local papers to get the ball rolling,
I can help out in cost,
We can notify the rest of the villa blogs,
Are we all up for it:scarf:

Re: Protests must start.
That's a good positive start. I'll run the idea past Trotters (TBAR site owner and techie) and see what ideas he can come up with. Anyone got any media contacts? I think Gadget Man talks to a couple of Journos on Twitter.Army villain wrote:Stay Away Day sounds great, villabromsgrove wrote:Angel of Haarlem wrote:gdav wrote:I think it would make more of an impact than a protest. Re: Protests must start.
A stay away day, even just for one game IMO has to be worth a shot! The powers that be don't listen to the protests and the boos, maybe what they need is complete and utter silence to grab their attention.

Re: Protests must start.
I can see both GV's and Dan's perspective on this (kudos for the apology, too....it's appreciated!).
We MUST protest to get our point across. But history tells us it will have zero effect.
However, history didn't have one Tom Fox in the equation and I do think that he's smart enough to realise that one such protest will inevitably lead to another. And that will destroy all the work he's doing. Not only undo the work, but make future work nigh on impossible.
I can't get behind a STAY AWAY DAY for the simple reason of location: it's hardly a sacrifice for me and I've no doubt someone will (rightly) point that out to me.
But I do think that it'd put an awful lot of pressure on Lerner (via the media and Fox) to take long-overdue action.

I believe the 25000 figure maybe wrong as the attendance always factors in ST holders whether they show or not

Re: Protests must start.
I've posted elsewhere about the phenomenon that is "Lambert's Luck". Have you noticed how each time he reaches the edge of the precipice, we somehow manage to stumble to a win or more usually a draw probably against the run of play!
If this happens again on Saturday against Burnley and "Sod's Law" says it will do, then "Stay Away Day" for the Leicester match will be dead in the water.
We would do well to wait until Saturday evening to see if the empty seats protest is viable.

Re: Protests must start.
Totally agree with this "Stay Away Day" especially with the Leicester game being on television.
It might not achieve the ultimate aim but at least it will highlight the plight the club is in to the masses out there.
The bottom line here to me is that the fans must do something and not just muddle along in total apathy!

Leicester may well be too soon for a #StayAwayDay protest, many will already have bought tickets.
How many season ticket holders are there?

I support the team not the regime , the attendance will be shite anyway , Lerner is in The States , WTF difference do you think it ill make to him, he wants shot of the club anyway ?
We have to remain patient until we are sold i'm afraid ,nothing has changed !

Sky tv goes out world wide. Empty seats caused a debate by pundits on Monday night, and if another 10,000 empty seats appeared on Sky TV, action would surely follow.

Re: Protests must start.
Keep living in land cuckoo Bill we will end up in the 4th division before Lerner is able to sell.
Just to add bill, WTF has supporting the team got us? I'll tell you, shit performance after shit performance, they then turn around and insult the fans and tell us to fuck off, they never repay our loyalty, look at Downing and now Delph, we nursed them and got their careers back on track and then they piss off at the mention of a few more quid. Fuck the players!
