Player Pontoon

Now another below par season has finished, and with the possibility of a big money takeover, I think it's time for a game of player pontoon. So, assuming we're going to have a fair amount of money to spend, not in Man Citeh's league where we could in theory get an entire new squad, but enough to maybe bring in 6 decent new players.
The rules are simple, you simply say 'stick' or 'twist' after each player. Obviously 'stick' means you would keep them and 'twist' you would get rid. Short explanations are welcome, but please don't abuse people for displaying their own opinions, I just think it would be interesting if people agree or disagree!!!

My take on this, with explanations for those that may be at odds with other's opinions.

Guzan    Twist - I can't understand people wanting to keep him as number one. For me, he's been poor this season.

There are certain players who should never play for Villa again and that includes the likes of Gabby who for the last 5 years has done the bare minimum to maintain his place at the club earning the massive salary he does, using his Villa 'heritage' as his wildcard and like the emperor's new clothes so many have bought into the 'he is one of us' to excuse his appalling performances. Sadly we would not get anything over £5m for him.   

Others like Tonev, Luna, Baker, Bennett, Sylla, Albrighton and El Ahmadi are nowhere near the standard, complete waste of money and should never be given the time, they are ALL championship level players at best, they are not even good enough to be squad members.   

And then the likes of Lowton, Bacuna, Clarke, Westwood and Kozak are not bad players but not great players by any stretch of the imagination, quite simply they are NOT good enough to start for a top 10 Premiership team, some maybe be decent squad players for a mid to lower tier premiership team but never good enough for Aston Villa and certainly not our first team.  :cyclops:
