Player of the Season ?

I know our excuse of a campaign isn't quite over yet, but the bloke I sit by in the Holte asked me an interesting question.

Who would be my player of the season?

Are there any candidates?

The only one I could think of was that Amavi looked ok before his injury!

Should the club not even ask for a poll this year ?

There really isn't one, they should all take a long hard look at themselves in the mirror and be ashamed!

Has to be Amavi. Which is rather hilarious considering he's played about 8 matches

Its gonna be as embarrassing as when Stephen Ireland got it a few years ago.

The only half decent shout is Ayew... But he hasnt exactly been decent all season, has he?

Amavi. He was happy to come here, made friends with the fans and seemed genuinely to want to play for the club. And in nine appearances (one as a sub) he supplied two assists, better than anyone else other than Gabby, who also had two and Veretout with five.

Continuing with the stats, whoscored have Amavi at 7.48 (the highest Villa score), with only two other players scoring over 7 (Okore at 7.01 and Gueye at 7.31).

Stats can be misleading though, Gabby for example scores higher on whoscored than Sinclair, Hutton, Traoré and Richardson...

Still, Amavi is still the best player we've seen all season.

Amavi is the obvious choice because:
a) Despite having only played a few games he probably genuinely deserves it.
b) It may even encourage him to stick with us for another season to try to help us get promoted.
c) Lastly absolutely not least, it will deliver an appropriate message to The Shitcunts who have befouled the C&B for an entire season.

We don't have one in my opinion, I agree with Villa Dan the fans are the heroes this year, RESPECT.

Amavi had done ok but I think some are making him better in his absence, I remember he was to blame for a couple of goals.
For me in this season to forget there can be no player of the season.
I agree the fans have been good all season and more patient than perhaps we should have been.

Amavi easy. Was decent on the pitch, was decent off it.
A far distant 2nd is Traore purely for getting people remotely excited before he fell over/lost the ball.
3rd, the Australian lad Lyden, who has played the sum total of about 30 mins.

Maybe we should reverse it this season? Who has been the worst player this season... now there's suddenly loads of contenders!

That's actually a good idea. It's absurd to pretend anyone deserves a pots award based on good play in a season we're relegated.

Could we develop this idea of Worst Player into a theme for the season?

We could have a Month of the Goal DVD.

At the last home game, a Lap of Depreciation. Players forced to walk around the running track ( not skirting the centre circle to avoid us), and every fan is given a bag of rotten fruit to aim at the players of his / her choice.

Surely Player of the season is a no-brainer? The player who is single-handedly responsible for 33% of our wins this season! That's a phenomenal percentage.

Given that criteria, give it to Gestede.......scored the winner on the opening day, a brace at anfield, and a leveller against the league leaders........also had a proper haircut midway through the season!

According to the Mirror the club is going to now ask the fans to vote on this one and risk our wrath???

Should all vote for Kevin Toner, purely for the two challenges against West Ham the other night, more passion and effort in those two challenges in the dying moments of a game they were leading than the entire squad of so called seniors have shown all season, even if he did get a red card
