Re: January '17 Transfer Window
Being linked with Guessouma Fofana, not to be confused with Gueida Fofana who we nearly signed when Houllier was manager. Edit they're apparently brothers. Stoke and Norwich also reportedly interested.

Re: January '17 Transfer Window
Lansbury is a box to box lad who can play alongside Jedi (or a better DM if we can get one) and then we'll still have that "number ten" role to fill as Grealish alone simply isn't enough. But yeah Lansbury would certainly add a goal threat to our midfield and needless to say we desperately need it. Have two players in the middle of the park who can score and create and we'll be hard to handle imo.
Also being linked with Smithies again which would be another solid signing. That Fofana link is interesting as he's a big defensive midfielder!!..could be pretty cheap but Stoke have apparently been sniffing around aswell.

Re: January '17 Transfer Window
Just been reading in the Birmingham Evening Mail that Villa are concentrating on Championship or Premier League players, which confounds the Guessouma Fofana story!
Then why would Bruce be looking at Smithies when the Johnstone loan deal is already signed and sealed, isn't it?
You just have to laugh, who actually knows anything, the transfer window is in full swing!

Re: January '17 Transfer Window
Murphy seems to be contradicting the above Lansbury rumours...
Pat Murphy @patmurphybbc 27m27 minutes ago
Having bid £3m for Lansbury @AVFCOfficial still waiting to hear back from @NFFC so this one may drag on. Told Rhodes & Snodgrass non-runners
He's also said that the young keeper from United is expected to sign tomorrow, so I guess that puts the Smithie rumours to bed.

I've been saying to my forest supporting mate for months lansbury would suit us, his opinion is that he is overrated and only plays when he wants a new contract. So hopefully it pays off if we get him although the Guardian is only good as emergency Shit paper.

Re: January '17 Transfer Window
This Mirror article States that we have £25m to spend plus any money we make from sales. Also says that Jedinak, Elphick and McCormack are all available for transfer.
I find it hard to believe, think we'll spend about £10m plus money from player sales. And I doubt very much that we'll be letting the players mentioned leave, especially McCormack and Elphick, maybe a possibility of Jedinak if we sign Fofana.

Re: January '17 Transfer Window
I think it's a great show of intent from Xia to let Bruce make his own side straight after giving RDM the same chance. As long as it isn't with the condition he gets sacked if we don't go up.
Jedinak, McCormack and Elphick can all go for me. All three have been poor. All three seem to make things harder for those playing around them too which is only going to frustrate.
Jedinak can't pass it five yards and has the pace of a snail meaning everybody else in the midfield has to do his running. We need all the help we can get in midfield and can't be carrying anybody.
Elphick causes panic in the defence and doesn't seem able to organise. Huge change when Chester and Baker were partnered and that's how it should stay. Looks like Toner was brought back as cover.
McCormack is the only one who is at least scoring occasionally but is too reliant on a perfect opportunity which he can't create himself and we can't currently create for him. Leaves us very light for January if we don't replace. Would probably rather see Ayew leave for the same price.

Another African player I assume? Wouldn't he already be participating in the AFCON?

He is African and plays for Mali who are at the AFCON but he doesn't appear to be in their squad??
Apparently Brighton want Lotus-Cheek from Chelsea on loan? We need to be onto this one straight away, an excellent young player!

Quite, Lerner was an utter disgrace to let AVFC fall into such disrepute, a shambles from top to bottom!
Unfortunately we still have players enjoying that holiday period and don't realise that it is now over!

completely agree, also on another note (bit on topic as where you say people still being on holiday period) Jack Grealish came to my brothers mass on Christmas day, took his time to come over and have photos with me and my little lad, I asked him how he found bruce to be and he said " we love him but fock me he don't half go mental if were shit" so these fockers who still think their on hols will certainly NOT be let away with it by Bruce.

If true it would be the obvious and clever move to make. Stephens is integral to that Brighton side and is out of contract in a few months. I don't, however, see us getting him. If I were Brighton I'd keep him and let it go until the end of the season from the position they are in, he's worth much more to them getting them promoted. The only way it might happen is if the player try's to force it through, but he'd become very unpopular if he did so and might end up with a load of egg on his face.............though no doubt heaps more wealthy.

I think we should get Daniel Johnson back from Preston. wouldn't cost much - scores a few goals at this level.

We're underway! Just Lansbury, Stephens, Hourihane, Jenkinson, Schlupp, and Hernandez left to secure!

Re: January '17 Transfer Window
no chance for Rhodes - Gestede formed a lethal partnership with Rhodes while at Blackburn, with the pair scoring a combined 68 goals inside 18 months at Ewood Park.
Now team-mates in the North-east, Gestede says he exchanged messages with Rhodes before agreeing his Boro switch – and insists he can’t wait to get started.
That would seem to suggest that any talk of Rhodes swapping places with Gestede at Villa Park, are indeed misplaced.
