Shame to see him go.
Wouldn't surprise me to see him back in the Premier League in the next 3 years performing to a much higher standard
I would be stunned beyond belief if he ever comes back to the premier league - let alone making his mark in it.
Slow, no stamina, true the odd good pass \ set piece but looked a million miles of PL standards IMO.
Get him sold, if he goes on loan and bombs we get nothing.

If Guzan leaves I'll dance a merry jig
If Richards leaves I'll dance one naked
If Bacuna Lescott and Gabby join them ................. I'll dance a merry jig through the bullring naked on a Saturday afternoon
edit.... might need some Norwegian Ale for that though.......... Harrumph!

But I believe that a hard core of disruptive behaviours from Gabby, Lescot, Bucuna and Richards had a lot to do with the physiological balance of the team. If we get the mentality right and the fitness levels where they should be then I believe that we have a chance of playoff at least. RDM seem to have an handle on things at the moment but need to stamp out all bad and disruptive behaviour before it spreads as it did last year. VTID
^^^^^^ Pretty much this...
Is RDM such a man to keep the dressing room in line. The two outfield players he has purchased look decent. Im just not convinced that RDM can keep things on even keel for the whole season. Hope I am wrong but I think he will have the same problems as Garde did - but these will be masked by a lot of the dross in that division - Im thinking 8th-10th at the minute.

Talksport along with other sites are stating that a formal bid has been placed for Kodjia........£5-6 million bracket.

Completely disagree. Five assists was the best return of assists we've had from a midfielder since Westwood got six in his first season here. All this done in the worst team we've had in history. He also didn't play a full season either so may have got more given the chance. Imo he's more than good enough to play in the championship this season and that would have allowed him to get fully adapted to the English game so he'd be more prepared once we got promoted.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ravel Morrison is brought in shortly as Gil's replacement.

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
I think that's great news.
While I like Gil, one of our biggest problems next to attitude and lack of proper team mentality, has IMO been midgets. With Westwood, Gil, Grealish we've been bullied all over the pitch.

Gil was not cut out for the English leagues, technically very gifted but far too lightweight!
As an aside can't we actually sell anybody instead of loaning all our players out?

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
Is anybody else a bit worried about the lack of new players coming in or am I being a bit premature in this, it's just after last seasons debacle and Dr Tony saying it was upwards of £30M to spend its left me a bit worried in terms of quality.

Careful mate you'll be branded for being negative, he is going to spend billions and win the champions league you know... we am back apparently...
I'm not sure what to make of the lull in transfer activity, is the club just trying to be shrewd and put in low ball offers that aren't reaching the ears of the press, or is the manager considering utilising the fuckwits we are all desperate to see the back of. Hopefully Villas offer of a free transfer for Sloth from the Goonies will get rid of one of the muppets but as for the others, I just can't see them moving on, which is likely to limit the number of new faces coming in I feel, personally I would simply pay their compo and release them, but its not my money.

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
I'm in the gloomy camp I'm afraid.
Aston Thriller accurately described last years squad as our worst in history.
Don't think many of us would argue against that.
Problem is that, so far, this years squad looks remarkably similar.
The lower standard in the Championship should mean that we won't struggle too badly but I think mid table is a realistic aspiration.
Unfortunately we missed out on the better manager (Pearson) but Xia is still learning. Will be interesting to see how he reacts in adversity.

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
Think it's obvious that squad places are full and wages likely knocking on the FFP door as it stands hence the need to reduce numbers and wages now before further buys?
No matter how much Xia is worth there hasn't been enough time yet to increase income through any of his proposed new ventures such as selling more merchandise in China or India or Vicvilla turning any kind of profits etc. Surely this means we have to be mindful of FFP at this point?
So i can understand the slowdown in purchasing players temporarily.
If the budget was 30m (maybe plus sales?) and we've already spent 13 that leaves just 17m for a good striker plus replacing any last minute outs which may well happen.
When you look at it it actually makes sense to hold off at the mo in my opinion.

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
3 decent signings made so far. Linked with a number but there's still 2 weeks until until Game 1 and 6 weeks left of the window.
I know we need to make another couple of signings but I'd rather not rush them just to get anyone through the door before Wednesday

Actually I don't think we have to be so mindful of the FFP rules as previous clubs (i.e. Bournemouth) have shown, you just get fined. It depends if you want to get promoted or not?

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
I'm not panicking yet - it's bound to have taken time for RDM to assess the squad. Now Petrov's not been offered a contract, I think that's a sign that RDM has settled on who he doesn't want. Also, as newly demoted, we don't yet fully know who's heads are going to be turned by offers from elsewhere so there's no point rushing into transfers & then finding key players disappearing at the last moment.
I still think we have enough quality as we are to make a decent fist of things in the Championship (& I've kept an eye on Brighton's journey for a while now because it's the biggest team nearest to me) providing RDM gets the best from everyone - but winning will depend on a couple of new faces.

I was unsure whether that was a Premier League ruling only or included the Championship too?

Re: 2016 Summer Transfer Speculation
Gotta laugh at the reports saying Red Scouse are interested in Amavi for £ 10 million. As we'd even consider that offer. I wouldn't even answer the mail for less than £ 35 million.
