So, how's this one going to pan out?
Aston Villa v Manchester City F.A. Cup 30th Jan 2016 15:00
Here is the latest in our talismanic lucky match threads. I'm unbeaten so far - admittedly there has been a paucity of victories but softly softly catchy monkey. We are building up to a run, I can feel it in my water.
Well, Remi has form with these and there is the added spice of Death Adder Delph, so let's believe we are going to get something out of it.
They won't be able to field their strongest side so maybe things will go better than some expect. Personally, I couldn't give a bugger if we lose as long as we put in a bit of a performance and show the right spirit. There are no points to be won today, or in the next round if we win, but as a training exercise it will be well worth it.

Man City have put out a fairly weak side so perhaps we won't lose too heavily!

It's not televised. No streams out there.
1-0 City already... That was quick.

Well that didn't take long, brilliant partnership Richards and Clark!
Off out, anywhere where I can't see the scores!

Commentators are saying our backline is shambolic and the team look like they don't care about the match at all. Veretout is apparently lucky to stay on for kicking out at the Snake. I guess that's one way to make you loved by the Villa fans... haha

With that start I don't think I even want to find audio commentary to hook up, let alone watch it.

4 nil. Fuck my old sugarbag boots. West Ham on Tuesday is far more important.

Yes it is. As I said in my initial post in the thread, we get no points for that one so the loss in itself means nothing. I expected to get nothing when we were drawn against them but would have liked a good performance and a narrow loss. The scoreline points to neither but I don't actually know how we played as I didn't listen to it.NARLA24 wrote:4 nil. Fuck my old sugarbag boots. West Ham on Tuesday is far more important.

Re: Aston Villa v Manchester City F.A. Cup 30th Jan 2016 15:00
My match report would be:
Concede sloppily from a corner.
Play well and control possession for a good 10 minutes.
Concede soft penalty.
Play out the first half with nothing really happening.
Start slowly but don't concede and get into our stride, almost camped in their half. From there we give them the ball from the worst pass gana has, or will ever make. Goal.
From the kick off we give them the ball from the worst control gana has, or will ever make. Goal.
We don't look bad, but confidence is shot. No idea where a goal will come from and I can't believe I'm saying it but Gabby and Ayew might not be bad either as a 2 or alongside Kozak. I hope he was rested and not injured today!

Indeed but I suspect the scoreline will be similar.
Some players today looked as if they have just gone - particularly Gana.

I listened to most of it on the radio and it sounds like we made some incisive sideways passes and crosses into the opposition box devoid of Villa players.
Hopefully we can see a 4-4-2 for the last match or two of the season so we can get to see what we should have been playing when we had three fewer points back in January.
Am I right in thinking we had a midfielder at RB and a RB at CB and it screwed up our back line? I reckon with Richards at RB (a position I understand he has experience of), Okore on the right at CB (ditto) and a solid defender in Cissokho at LB, Clark would probably have been ok today. He was good alongside Okore for some of last season.
Special request to Remi Garde - please play defenders in their correct positions. Please also play two strikers. To be frank, it's not working when we play a lone striker and defenders (or midfielders) out of position in defence.
Go on, you know you want to. Or maybe you're just sulking because you aren't allowed to bring in your own players and staff.

The cup run was always going to be a loss waiting to happen - glad to get it out of the way tbh.
At least we're now all extra, extra, extra, extra sure that the old GK & defensive line-up (still) doesn't work.

Well, that was all bad but that Gana backpass was an object lesson in getting what you deserve for shite-awful negative play. Turn and fucking go forward you fucking cnuts! You shitehawk, Gana, you were half way into the Man City half and hit a backpass. Unbelievable.Wookster wrote:Todays shower of shite courtesy of the BEEB
