Managers, who would we want?

Gregory wasn't bad when you look back. There's a lot of revisionism re Houllier, the final two wins against Liverpool and Arsenal put a shine on an atrocious season

The revolution wasn't supposed to to leave us in such a depressingly shit place was it?

I lost it with Houllier after that Liverpool game.

Ron Atkinson until the end of the season at least. What a thrill it would be to see him swagger down the touch line again. Get him in!

Loved the style under ron- it was a dream co.e true the day doug got him here,i have great memories of his time here.

I regret the day that I stood outside the dressing rooms at Selhurst Park and called for him to be sacked.

Because of how good things had been with him?

I think it was time for him to go when he did and I really rate what Little was able to do when he rebuilt.

The problem with O'Leary was he did insist on opening his big gob and saying Villa couldn't compete with Charlton Athletic.

That was in reference to the transfer market and was said in order to try and get more money - at least, that's my recollection.

Lambert on the other hand has categorically proven that we can't compete with the Bradford's, Millwall's and Sheffield Utd's on the pitch.

He is but villa are a big club and its a huge step up as lambert has found coming from Norwich - I'd like someone experienced from the continent to come in and shake the club up - we need a lift.

I would not fork out hard earned cash to watch diabolical home form like we have given supporters over the last 4 seasons.

I remember coming out of VP after the Trabzonspor match and an old fella said to me "he'll be gone within a week" and thinking nah, no chance. He wasn't far off. I loved the football under BFR, loved the way he talked us up, the way he was proud, but he'd lost the plot when he came back with Fashanu. We should've won the league under him.

The worst thing about the 1992/93 runner's up spot was we actually had real title pedigree compared to say Blackburn in 94/95. We had finished second a few years earlier, had won a title twelve years earlier, had a team of internationals and faced a Fergie who still had a lot to prove.

I was only seven at the time and only starting to get into it so I am going really on my subsequent reading of the situation. What went wrong in the last few games? Were villa just unsettled when United got that slice of luck against Sheffield?

That was a big turning point for sure - didn't we play Coventry the next day and struggle to a 0-0?

Same afternoon - I remember waiting in the trinity rd stand for the old Trafford result to come through and the despair when they had won - a huge downer.

Cantona was the difference .

Eddie Howe at Bournemouth is one to watch for the future. He's already got some credit in the bank from managing a team to a 4 goal away performance at The Sty.

Would prefer to get someone in from the continent with experience of managing a club of villa's size .

No I agree, not saying he should be the next manager but he's one worth keeping an eye on for the future.

Don't ask me who we should get, I really wanted Lambert. I still think there is a good manager in there but not at this level with the budget he has to work with.

I must admit i would love to see Lambert given tons of cash, i mean tons, i think he would do us proud.

Not for me , he may spot decent players but I don't think he has the tactical nous or motivational quality to get them to play - get rid !
