Re: Newcastle v Aston Villa Saturday 19th December 2015 5.30pm kick off
Going to stick my neck out and say if we're playing a diamond we'll win.

Sanchez playing, no traore, gil or grealish. I'm out. Seriously can't be arsed.

Probably the best team selection that we can put out at the moment, perhaps with the exception of Gil not playing!

I just can't see it. There is no way after recent displays we can say that Sanchez and Sinclair is the best we can put out.

Look at that defending. Hahhahahaa. I really don't even care if we go down. I want them all out of the club. Everyone from the team to the board room. Get rid.

They work hard but I agree it is hardly an inspiring team selection but we do need to become 'hard to beat' before we have any other aspirations, although I do accept it could all be too late by then if not already.

How can a professional footballers like Bacuna take THAT free kick in this weather? Surely the most inept fucking idiot around would realise you need to land the ball on the pitch a few yards in front of the keeper so you get the bounce on wet grass? How is this even fucking possible. Are they complete fucking amateurs or what

Thought it's been a fairly solid display so far, certainly equal to anything Newcastle are throwing at it. Having said that, we need to get our teeth in up front and get Sanchez off.

A draw, we settled for a fucking draw?! We smashed them in the second half, Ayew looked fantastic. We had their trousers down and settled for a fucking draw.
I'm pleased with a point but fuck me we've not had a better chance of all three this season!
Definitely something to build on, happy overall, spirited never-say-die performance.

The last 15 minutes were crying out for some pace on the break. Adama for Veretout could have potentially won us the match. That said, the team put up a bit of a fight in the 2nd half, but not winning this game sums up our season so far.

Perhaps we are finally leaning towards Rudy and Ayew as a partnerships.
Put attacking Adama in front of defensively sound Hutton and the right side is posted.
Veretout, Gil or Grealish at the point of diamond. Sanchez or Gana at the base. Swap them at half time because neither can last the 90.
We must win games to get out of this and we settled for a point tonight. That is inexcusable

Ayew and Veretout showing how it should be done, Sinclair and Westwood just meh. Why not let Veretout and Gueye handle the middle and play (insert names here) on the wings instead? I reckon Richardson would be better on the left than Sinclair has been. Having said that, Ayew works so well on the left, Traore on the right, just fucking go at them and like I said before, if it doesn't work out use one or two of those substitutes Garde doesn't seem to want to bother with. Traore would have torn their defence some new arseholes today, and with Gestede's head to bounce off who knows. The Sky commentators mentioned all those golden opportunities to kill off the match but Gestede had a few of his own. Gabby is no longer welcome and can't score goals, Kozak is presumably no longer welcome because he can, surely Sellars can do a job?
There's some fight in there, especially Veretout and Ayew. If only we were allowed to see Traore, Grealish, Gil and Kozak play. We're much better than any of our managers this season have allowed us to be.

WHY OH WHY OH WHY WAS ADAMA NOT PLAYED AT ALL?
Apart from that, lovely goal by Ayew and some real fight shown by the team. Shame it wasn't 3 points. Can't think of many better chances we'll have to take 3 points this season!

At this point, I just want to see us fighting & not going out with a whimper so I'll take the performance if not the score.

Adama and Kozak must be the laziest trainers the world has ever seen. It's crying out for Rudy or Libor to start with Ayew and then sswap for the other when they tire.
Adama to come on if we're losing at the hour and just run. Run at players and scare them. At the very least it will free up the other side of the pitch
With Veretout, Ayew at least we have some attacking intent and fight now.
All the pieces are there, we just need Remi to build the jigsaw.

The pieces may be there but Remi still needs to find the instructions to build the jigsaw!

Would we still have been glad that Adama was brought on if his lack of tracking had led to a late Newcastle goal? I can understand Remi being just a little bit cautious.

Re: Newcastle v Aston Villa Saturday 19th December 2015 5.30pm kick off
I think the manager was wondering if the horrible conditions would suit a player who relies on some silky skills and pace to get around players? The rain meant the best results would come from knocking the ball about and banging it into the box and hoping for a mistake.
Adama would maybe not have given us that option. Plus we'd be light defensively.
I'm just playing devils advocate.
Guzan still terrifies me - I just don't think I'll ever be able to fully relax when he's in goal.
Bacuna: first minute of so he gets a throw and puts Guzan right in the shit. Was murdered all first half.
Okore was Ok. Lescott is asleep and just picking up a wage each week.
Hutton did well I thought.
Westwood was a bit average. Sanchez was biblically shit. How can a bloke keep players like Messi quiet yet can't do it on a rainy day in Newcastle?
Sinclair was awful. You just never know which Sinclair is going to show up. He's either all heart, gung-ho and really sharp or he's totally switched off and stupid. Today we got stupid.
Gestede was reasonable.
Ayew and Veretout were brilliant. If we have saviours in this team, then those two are it.
We're going to need a win next week and then a very aggressive transfer window. If we sign "potentials" from the continent, A-League or NSL then we're fucked. We need proven winners. No exceptions.

Re: Newcastle v Aston Villa Saturday 19th December 2015 5.30pm kick off
My point with Traore has always been to start him and let him run at the opposition and give them hell. If it's not working out then fine, take him off and stick on Gil instead, who, despite his size, does track back and defend. Westwood just isn't suited to playing any position other than just in front of the centre backs. It almost seems he's a safe player if the squad's in trouble but really, playing him out of position is taking that position away from someone that knows how to play there.
It's becoming obvious Ayew works on either wing, especially on the left. Sinclair and Westwood don't. Come January I can see us signing a striker capable of working on his own, but until then I still think what's letting us down is the manager playing a 4-1-4-1 formation and trying to make our current players fit, when it's not really working. Gestede is good at a few things, but with only Hutton banging in the crosses (with the occasional one from Bacuna's right foot, so coming in at the wrong angle) he's not getting the supply from somene like Traore.
If we go down we really have to keep hold of Ayew and Veretout (and Okore). We can build a team around them to get us promoted back into the PL. I'm beginning to think the likes of Hutton and Sanchez will be able to find alternative employment.

I think Gil would have been in danger of drowning on that pitch!
