He'll fit in as part of a two up front with Rudy or Kozak I would imagine

Gabby needs to work on his finishing, Guzan needs to work on his kicking.
When Okore is fit would like to see him with Clark and Richards right.

Sky/Phil Thompson seem fairer:
Guzan 7
Bacuna 6
Richards 7
Clark 8
Amavi 8
Vertout 6
Gueye 7
Westwood 6
Sinclair 7
Ayew 6
Gabby 6
Gestede 8
Sanchez 5
Richardson 6
Personally I'd give Clark the same as Micah and Sanchez was worth a 6
But otherwise fairly good ratings considering the source
I'm now off on the piss in a great mood!
My ten points goes to " AVFC away fans ". Fantastic! I was nearly in tears when Rudy scored: The Gladiator chant for " Rudy, Rudy, Rudy!" Fired him up and within 10 minutes, fuck it! you know the rest.

Really annoyed with 5 live, first they hardly commentated on the game, then they were licking bournmouths ass and acting like we played like a bag of sh*t. We handled the game like we should have and got the result in the end. I am not saying we were amazing but we were better than 5 live were saying.

It's the price we pay for not being "fashionable" !! The media just cannot wait for us to fail. Have you noticed how much more attention Benteke's getting with things like montages on SSN or Talkshit purely by going to liverpool? He's not even played a competitive match yet. Anyway sod it, bollocks to the media, brilliant three points today UTV!

It's official. I know nothing about football. Was fairly certain that we'd lose today, based mainly on the poor defensive performance against Forest. Looked a bit toothless upfront though until Rudi came on. Hopefully when these players have achieved match fitness, adjusted to the PL and got a better understanding of what Tim is trying to do, we may have the makings of a decent side.

I am getting sick to death of the pundits, honestly from the commentary I thought we were rubbish, they were saying that amavi was terrible, I thought he had a good game. They all wanted us to lose, I really want to smack Paul Merson in his fat nose.

Re: AFC Bournemouth v Aston Villa FC. Sat Aug 8th 3:00pm.
You lot have pretty much covered it for me. I thought in the first half we were playing more of a 4-5-1 with Gabby completely lost at sea. I can only see him a) coming on as a late sub to bully the opposition or b) in a 4-4-2 alongside Ayew or whoever. On his own, leading the line, he was a bit hopeless. And I'm a big fan of his...

I watched the game whilst listening to 5 live. I quite agree chrissy. joey Barton is a knobhead and i thik some one must have stubbed a cigar out in his eye because I was watching a different game to him. Gana was good, Amavi was good, Veretout was good but Barton disagreed.
Fact of the matter was Bournemouth were in a fairy tale, unfancied, nearly went bust 6 years ago, promising young manager, small ground, played nice football on the way to getting promoted, an inoffensive lovely good news story.
Villa, struggled for the last 5 seasons but still a big name and would be seen as a "giant killed" by lowly Bournemouth.
Bournemouth is a tough place to play, Liverpool went there last season and the story of the match was similar to today. Liverpool had an unfamiliar set up with Sturridge playing as a "makeshift" striker and took there chances whilst Bournemouth played well but lacked a clincal finish and were punished for poor defensive errors.
Today Villa were in unfamiliar territory with a number of new signings. bournemouth came out full of bravado and expectation and a belief that they would win.
Villa had to take the sting out the game and crowd nad they did that, they didn't play well in the first half but rode the storm. Under Lambert and McCleish we would have lost today.
Tim made the right changes when neccessary and for a team on the first day in the heat of the English Riviera there were some promising debuts and usual frustrations.
hell, it wouldn't be Villa without frustration,

Re: AFC Bournemouth v Aston Villa FC. Sat Aug 8th 3:00pm.
When kicking the ball out or when the ball was played back to him, I was nervous about Guzan. But his positioning was actually pretty much spot on through the game and he made a couple of crucial reflex saves which settled my nerves a little. The passing back style has annoyed me for a long time anyway, so if they can cut that out more I'd be happier.
We got three points, we're third in the league and the gel of the team will get better with each game. That's a good result for day one and a positive outlook for going forward I'd say!

Well i'm absolutely delighted that my prediction of a 0-4 defeat was well wide of the mark!
Very pleased indeed with that result, a banana skin avoided.
I genuinely thought the lack of cohesion and playing time together would cost us today... It nearly did once or twice but we held out and nicked the win so all good!

MotD highlights - watch carefully as the Villa players run over to celebrate with the traveling hordes at 4.58 - one of them, whose a little front heavy and probably had a sherbet or two too many, takes a tumble and bites the dust. V entertaining!

Bacuna is hyped regarding free kicks IMO. He never delivers anything. A couple of fluke goals and he suddenly takes them all.

A coincidence that the big story/fairy-tale opening day match of lowly Bournemouth facing everyone's favourite relegation hopes Aston Villa combined with Premier League boss, Richard Scudamore, sitting with the Bournemouth chairman results in 5 minutes added on time for no apparent reason?

Alright men,
Haven't posted for a few days as I'm on holiday in a giant open air blast furnace.
youknow this blast furnace as Southern Spain.
Absolutely insane. We arrived on Friday night at midnight and it was 32 degrees!
Very happy to have been proven wrong on the Bouremouth result. The media coverage was predictable. We were on a hiding to nothing. If we lost, we were crap relegation fodder. If we won we were party poopers.
Glad it was the latter.
By far the most delirious journalist was a fella called Glen Moore, who wrote the match report for the Independent. Here is the 2nd paragraph:
In football, of course, the result is everything, and losing at home to a team that was nearly relegated last season, and lost three key players in the summer, is a disastrous result.
I hunted him down on Twitter and told him that if he he truly believed that statement he was a complete and utter fool.
I told him that his profile said he was a sports journalist, and I was currently looking for the phone number for Trading Standards.
A sports journalist? I would expect better from an Internet Troll. WTF is going on? The level of ignorance and disrespect from a broadsheet journalist is shocking.
His account is @GlenMoore7
I would would encourage you all to get on Twitter and give him pelters!
