Can we do it ?
Re: West Ham v Aston Villa
Trotters wrote:That poll makes for stunning viewing doesn't it? Even with a shit side against Man Utd I'd still expect to see 30-40% of blindly optimistic votes for a win. Or at least a draw.
But 90+% don't think we can get any kind of result against a West Ham side managed by Sam Allardyce? Fuck my old boots!
Even he is playing attacking football who would of though when we appointed Lambert after 3 years Allardyce would be playing better football than Lambert!

bruka wrote:lol no one has voted for a Villa win or a draw - thats gotta say something. When the optimists give up on a cheeky win against all odds then you know we're up the creek without a paddle. Someone should e-mail a screen shot of this page to one of the higher ups (no idea who, Tom Fox maybe ?) to show what they have reduced our once great club to. When was the last time you went to Villa Park and thought "This is gonna be a great game - can't wait for kick off" or we signed a player and you were genuinely excited about it (I don't mean "seems like an OK player and we're short in that position" i mean " Yessss ! We're gonna f*ck some people up") ?
Last time I looked forward to a Villa game was 09/10 season, this is not acceptable

Re: West Ham v Aston Villa
I have never wanted Villa to lose a game, but if I got an assurance that if we lost it would be Lamberts last game..........................
So sad that the club I have followed for 40 years has got me to this feeling.
What actually worries me is that if we do win a game then Lambert stays. If this horrendous run continues, then Lerner MUST get to the point where he has no choice but to sack him.
I am Villa til I die, I wish the players and manager felt the same.

We desperately need a win. I'm not confident that it'll happen, and I'm not sure that it would benefit us in the long term. What a state for the club to drift into. We're damned if we do, and we're damned if we don't.

Re: West Ham v Aston Villa
It is well nigh impossible to be positive about this game, all the signs point to another loss!
It is really getting very depressing, with no end in sight!
The positive is that new records will be set, the negative is that no good records will be set!

I more and more start to believe we need the loss - I'm amazed at the lack of media-pressure on Lambert right now, but think this loss could be the tipping point...

Senderos could be back so knock maybe 1 or 2 off how many we'll concede?

At least Senderos has some fight in him, which will at least make us not such a walkover.
However I can't help but wonder that we have come full circle here, didn't we get rid of Collins who wasn't good enough but is very similar to Senderos?

Collins' issue was one not only of footballing ability but, moreso, that he was a douchebag.

Re: West Ham v Aston Villa
all Senderos being back will do is mean Lambert might believe we can steal a draw, and I bet thats what he actually tells the players before they go out too..

Re: West Ham v Aston Villa
I believe Collins wanted to go back down south. On the plus side he might still score for us.
Last season what saved us was our form against the top clubs. We don't have that this season and as of late we can't beat anyone else. I looked at the next four games last night and didn't think we'd win any of them. How sad is that?
I wonder if the formation will change to try to support Bent and his style of goal scoring, or if we'll stick with the standard 4-3-3 every opposition manager, player, supporter and his dog knows how to play against? I still cling to the thory (and frankly, hope) that our players are much better than they're allowed to play but I'm not convinced I can see the manager's approach changing or see him turning around the squad's mentality.
If we did get a new manager could we convince Helenius to come back so we can get an idea over two or three matches if he's any good and if he wants to give us another go?
Anyway, I am going to go into this WH match with my eternal optimism we can fluke a lucky win. The odds are stacked against us though, aren't they?!

The positives are that we have sunk so low our expectations are non existent, therefore any sort of positive result today would be awesome.
However the downside to this scenario is that we all know it would just be papering over the cracks!

Oh, and to top it off i think we could suffer our worst defeat of the season so far. I can imagine those jellied eel, Chaz n Dave, knees up mother brown feckers really enjoying it.

Problem is we sold all our players who could put a decent ball into the box...Oh look we're playing against one of them today ...Downing. So i can't see how Bent helps us as he'd get no service you'd think...
Now with Benteke cheated out off a starting birth by a Spurs' desperate cheating antics the other day we are left with "kick & hope for the best" tactics. ...Even then if one of our strikers does actually get it in a threatening position we have to roll the dice and hope for a 6 ...as thats about the same ratio as one of our strikers choosing the correct option which results in a goal.
It is like we have to roll a dice twice and hope for two sixes in a row for us to score a goal...The first roll is when we hoof it out of defence and hope it lands to one of our players in a decent bit of space.... The second roll is whether that player then chooses the correct option which results in a goal!...I guess you could say there's even a 3rd roll as to whether our striker actually puts the chance away and you start yo see why we score so few goals.... Level lowest ratio with Burnley

Thank god the rugby is on tv, take my mind of the defeat that is coming, but it will still put me in a bad mood if we lose. My wife is going out with her pals, she is fed up with my bad mood when villa play, she wants Lambert out as much as I do, to see a smile on my face, for a change.

Lawrenson has us to lose 2-0, he is taking on Football Manager this week which has us down to lose 1-0.
I'm expecting at least another 2 past us.
