Does anyone remember the old 2001/2002 kit that was predominantly claret? Wouldn't mind seeing something like that again!
More like purple wasn't it??
I'd say it was more of a light maroon lol. I think the shorts were more or less all claret/maroon too although I'm not sure if that was for the European games only.

Naaaah. Lazio white collar is nice because the white is one of the two Lazio colours but ii has nothing to do with the Villa shirt.

Well said Archie, simple claret and blue is all we need. Let West Ham dabble in white collars if they wish!

I remember the old days then the kits would just change - every two seasons.
Now they have to stage a festival - on Fathers Day weekend - to show the new kits off.

Every year it gets more extravagant and has the feel of an exercise in milking the fans for as much as they can. The good has been sucked out of kits.I wish we could keep a kit for two seasons.

My favourite away kit was the blue and black one we had a few years ago with acorns on the front. I loved that shirt! Anyone else like that one, I'm not keen on the one we have at the moment, wouldn't mind the 'glow in the dark' one back as well!

The quality of the material is bad. My away top has started to get pulls in it and i only wear it when we are away, funnily enough.

Yes that was a lovely kit. Similar to the 1995-96 one which is my favourite away top of all time. The white AST computer one was also good as was the light blue one as worn by Collymore & co in 1997-98.

I'd like to see a different supplier. I have a 10-11 Nike one and a 13-14 Macron one and the Nike one looks and feels much better than Macron one.
Get an Adidas one and let top be all Claret and their tademark 3 stripes be the only blue except for maybe collar (no standup collar) and end of sleve.
Away kit, I'd like to see an all white one.

Agreed. It was a great badge. That said, I am on record as an admirer of the present one. Divisive though it is.

Could nit disagree more. If you compare the designs and the shade of claret, you will see that the current kit is much more distinctive and much more Villa, if this expression makes sense in English, than any Nike kits.

Re: Next seasons new kits 2014/15
Can't understand how so many people can like the old, famous, Muller shirt.
The dark red wasn't claret at all (assuming that claret is the current season, the 1982 and the 70's colour, correct me if I am wrong) and the blue was not the classic Villa light blue.
It was the shirt of another team.

We won the European Cup and FA Cup whilst wearing a stripe (of sorts).

This one is very apt - jailbird kit as Villa becoming the 'get out of jail' team in the Prem.

When I drew that up I was wondering where I'd seen it before. Your comment made me realise it was the Oh Brother Where Art Thou movie.
