This summer, will you.....?
Beyond 11th May 2014...
We'll have played our last game of the season at Tottenham, but will you be raring to go on the next season, thinking we're on an appreciable upward curve, or have two seasons under Lambert worn you out to the point that you'll want a break from all things Villa for a bit.
Tell us which, and why.

Re: Beyond 11th May 2014...
I think this season like to previous few has been far too stressful with the real threat of relegation hanging over us for large parts of the seasons.
I want Villa to have a good idea of who they want to buy, buy them early and just stop fucking around in the transfer market.

Not summer here. It will be a bleak, freezing winter of temperatures as low as 12 degrees. Of course, anything below 20 and I'm forced to wear socks to keep warm.
As for the Villa, I shall keep my eye on the transfer thread and have my say on the bollocks that get spouted about the internet by toss-bags who call Paul Faulkner for news and believe any shit they get told.
I think the summer (winter really, as discussed in my opening paragraph) transfer window will need to be very exciting very early if we're to keep Benteke. If we plod about and don't look like we're ambitious then he'll be telling his agent to get on his whore-phone and get him out of Villa Park once and for all.

It's nice to have a break, but I think as the summer progresses I will be looking forward to the next season and raring to go. There is only so long I can cope without Villa playing.
The World Cup will be a useful distraction at least.

Re: Beyond 11th May 2014...
The last two games have given me a bit more faith. I had feared all season that not only were players not improving, some were regressing.
However, Baker's Westwood's, Delphs's and Bennett's recent displays have given me something to invest hope in again. We actually have a decent team now and something to build on.
In fairness, if we could have shown up for the games against Palace, Fulham, West Ham and Sunderland at home we could be on 40+ points by now. That is the challenge for next year, develop a way to beat teams who park the bus at Villa Park. I think three or four quality additions, even if we lose Benteke, and we should be comfortably top table next season. That is not looking over our shoulders at any stage of the season.

I think we had the foundations i.e the squad now all within wage budget and good age... however we are just missing the two or three quality players.

I'd still wait and see how the season pans out and where we finish before making any decision on the managers future .
Bottom 6 and he goes - top 12 and he stays .
13th or 14th and randy tosses

Aye. If we play like we did against Norwich and Chelsea for the rest of the season it'll dispel a lot of doubts.

I'm hoping we give somebody a right good thrashing before the end of the season. Stoke are as good a candidate as any...

I heard an interesting stat today. If the season was rated only on games that involved a team at the top of the table Villa would be first. absolute radio

If we could hand out an absolute arse whipping to a team I'd love it to be Man Ure at the Theatre of Puss

Looking forward to next season tbh, if we get in some quality in the areas that we need it it will be a very good season.
In the mean time i will be watching plenty of cricket over here and World cup footy.

The World Cup, I can't wait for that. Last time out in 2010 I took three weeks off for the word cup and we actually had some nice weather which was great. I used to invite people over to watch games. Fun times.

Re: Beyond 11th May 2014...
I think a few million spent wisely will set us up for a comfortable mid table place next season, without the frightening shite we have put up with over the last few years. Also lets make Villa Park a tough place to visit.

Re: Beyond 11th May 2014...
Had a QPR fan and his Mrs over for 2 weeks recently. Both going to Brasil for the tournament.
They have tickets for 7 different group games, semi final and final tickets.
I asked him how much it had cost them and he told me that with their travel, different accomodation and match tickets he would have no change out of nearly 20,000 English Pounds !
Bloody hell, that is some amount of cash to spend for a tournament.
He has not missed an England game home or away for the last 15 years mind.
Now that is what i call an England football fan.

Personally I just don't get that.
Would I rather spend a shit tonne of cash to see this...
Or a fraction of the money to see this...
...and pop to the bar later to watch the game on TV.
For me, it's a no-brainer.
