Match Thread Villa v QPR
If this game goes ahead in front of the expected big crowd I can see us getting a few goals, 3-1 to us just to put another marker down.

Re: Match Thread Villa v QPR
Apparently it's snowing pretty heavy now in Aston, and a number of Championship games have already been called off, including Brentford v Cardiff.
If it does go ahead it's another must win for us, won't be easy, especially with QPR wanting to make up for last week, but we have to keep going. At this stage I don't really care who plays or how we play as long as we win.

It's looking unlikely that the game will go ahead tomorrow, the club have announced that the pitch is fine as its been covered up but it took me 3hrs to get to Stourbridge from 5 ways (12 miles) yesterday. Not been out in the car today but from the conditions at the moment it looks like it will affect public transport quite heavily tomorrow, still, that's good news for the walking injured.

Yep really hope tomorrow is cancelled. Its usually about safety of spectators getting to ground rather than pitch condition isn't it?
Well it's snowing here again today so hopefully it'll travel up the M5!
Very eerie yesterday evening and today walking around and nothing on the roads just loads of people sledging and having snowball fights. Most unusual for south Devon!

It is interesting because the racing at Southwell went ahead today because the course was okay although travelling there was an utter nightmare, although this could have had something to do with pleasing the bookies and potentially having no racing for the second day in a row.
Anyway I would be surprised if it is called off, although if no public transport then that may force the issue, although no public transport runs on Boxing day.
We will win and keep the pressure on, with Grabban grabbing a couple of goals! UTV

Pitch inspection currently underway - decision by 9 a.m. after "significant deterioration" in conditions last night.

Game has now been postponed until March 13th. A shame really as I would have preferred playing QPR before Sunderland away and then Wolves.

Personally I don't have a problem with the game being cancelled, it will give us those extra days to get people fit.

Game being off is a help to us in two ways - obviously the injury situation but also hopefully the pitch gets a bit more rest time.

Wolves, Derby and Fulham are all going to have psychological advantages over us if they play and win. We'll have a game in hand, but the pressure will be on. Hopefully Derby v Fulham ends up as a draw, Fulham win and they'll be a point behind us, Derby win and they'll go above us.

I'd honestly take that situation and have Grealish back tbh.deadbuzzardalive wrote:Wolves, Derby and Fulham are all going to have big psychological advantages over us if they play and win. We'll have a game in hand, but the pressure will be on. Hopefully Derby v Fulham ends up as a draw.

Re: Match Thread Villa v QPR
I feel sorry for us if we can't beat QPR without Grealish. But if the weather's that bad, then it's out of the club's hands.
Wolves game also called off now, Derby goes ahead, presumably they haven't had it quite so bad in the east midlands, don't really want Derby winning that one, draw would be the best result.

To be honest the conditions have deteriorated badly overnight!
I have not seen one car move along our road this morning and I don't blame them it looks absolutely treacherous.
I would have preferred to play as well, as it is always better to be in front rather than playing catch-up.

Big thaw here now most of the snow gone due to lots of rain.
Let's hope we get 3 points on Tuesday then.

It would have been interesting if it would have still been cancelled if we had been in the PL as not one PL game has been postponed?
Due for sleet and rain overnight, it will be fine by tomorrow, probably some flooding though.

I think we should turn this thread into a "let's all laugh at the noses" thread. 1-0 down already and goal scored by Villa fan Joe Lolley.
Come on Forest haha.
I was in the Trip to Jerusalem last week so my little prayer sheet I left in Nottingham is working!

Well done Forest!
Noses having a wankfest over getting rid of Cotterill and replacing him with stray monk.
Stay there Steve, you are doing a fabulous job hahahaha

Not sure if Monk is the type of manager you'd want to help with a relegation scrap, I personally think he's overrated at the best times. I won't mind if he gives them a bit of new manager bounce next weekend against Cardiff though.

Still cannot believe they got rid of him when they were something like 7th - delusions of grandeur or what.
Personally I think Monk is the David Brent of football management- talks a load of management speak and pseudo technical cobblers to try and look clever. Similar to Pardue in that sense.

Re: Match Thread Villa v QPR
Thinking about this one gives me the heebie jeebies, QPR have nothing to play for and as such will be competely relaxed which sometimes leads to teams performing much better than when they actually have something to play for, we should win, but there is potential for an upset, which if happens would take away from Saturday's result and leave a dreaded sense that we're back to square one again, but with less games to go.
Need to go into this game as we did the Wolves one, do that and we should have an excellent chance of three points.

Re: Match Thread Villa v QPR
No I really do think we'll win this one 2 or 3 nil.
The west country Nosferatu has blooded quite a few youngsters and Eze in particular is doing a pretty good job, but if we lose against these we want shooting.
The one thing I will say for them is that they are mobile and try to play high tempo and that has been- in the past - a weakness for us.
But seriously, if we lose against these we might as well pack in now.
