Bloody brilliant!
Would definitely play gabby vs Blackburn along with bacuna, Richards, elphick, gardner, amavi and of course Ross Legend McCormack too if we can get him back......

I know we've just beaten our local rivals, but I find that photo slightly embarrasing. It's like something you see when a team's reached a final, got promoted or won a trophy.

I do tend to agree BUT as it is against the slum dwellers I will let it pass!

A bit of fun celebrating victory in a rivalry that began 138 years ago.

Re: Villa v SHA - match thead
This season's been a total failure, and I think that picture sends out the wrong message about the mentality of our players.
We've beaten a side who've only won twice in twenty odd games and are in serious trouble of going down, Yes of course the team are going to be happy having beaten small heath, but it's harldy worth celebrating as if we've won promotion, given the context of our season and how disappointing it's been.
15 points from sixth place, the players should be ashamed of that.

"It was the worst game of the season but who cares?"
The answer is, I care. Still no sign any improvement in system or tactics. Players still like a bunch of strangers. Not scoring enough goals. Even when in front its backs to the wall and hack it anywhere. If Bruce cannot start next season with some skillful and entertaining football and get results, he will be in trouble early doors. It's a one year rolling contract, right?

Re: Villa v SHA - match thead
Bruce himself knows that it's not good enough at the moment...
"It was the worst game of the season. The ball must have been screaming at one point, saying 'please don't bash me again'.
"We're still not remotely near the finished article. I've got a busy summer ahead, with a huge clear-out job to continue."
It's just a question of whether he's capable of fixing the problems that he sees, I like his honesty at least.

Re: Villa v SHA - match thead
But now he's talking about Agbonlahor getting a new contract in the summer, that I don't like...
"I can only go on what I've seen in the last five months but a fit Gabby Agbonlahor, certainly at this level, has still got something to offer.
"He's now got to try to earn a contract for next season. It's a big summer for him and he's got to keep himself fit.
"When you get to 30 now, winning a new contract is like winning the lottery."

Even I would draw the line at that, he still has a year left, that is plenty!

That is the problem though, Bruce says the right things but nothing improves or changes!

Re: Villa v SHA - match thead
It was unlikely to begin with, but I'm almost certain he won't be going anywhere now, even if we lose the last two. So all that's left to do is to hope that with a pre-season he can right the wrongs. Doesn't seem likely given we haven't improved at all on the ball as a team since he's arrived, and it's not really working out for the players he signed, except for Taylor.
I'm not sure what's going to change myself.

Re: Villa v SHA - match thead
Cmon guys there's no one better than me at finding the cloud inside the silver lining, but let's forget our misgivings for one lovely lovely day. We sent the swamp rats back to their slums in tears at the triple crown of defeat. One; they lost and didn't even get to jump around. Two, Gabby scored against them ffs. Three they are properly shitting themselves about relegation.
Oh and to see Bagpuss''s bitter comments about us is a wonderful feeling. That baggy faced bent bastard will be off at the end of the season faster than you can say "brown envelope".
Nope, whilst I know exactly what our shortcoming are this season, nothing but nothing will take away the mile wide shit eating grin that I'm currently sporting.
Let's lose 1-0 to Blackburn next week and hope huddy do the tramps.
I was hoping we wouldn't see the snot noses next season cos we were back in the prem but I'll take not seeing them next season cos they are in L1 as a very good consolation prize.

Re: Villa v SHA - match thead
Being as though a lot of fans are saying that they want us to lose to Blackburn, I reckon we'll probably end up thrashing them and it being our best performance of the season lol.
Mind if sha lose to Huddersfield then it will still go to the last game of the season.

Agree with @De Kuip here, a win is a win and it's taste's so much better when it's against SHA, had to listen to WM and my ears were bleeding at how bad the game was, I'm just thankful that this game slipped by Sky and every other live broadcaster.
Onto other news! Christian Benteke hits two past the bin dippers, all in all a great day for me

Re: Villa v SHA - match thead
I think its a different world when it's a derby - you could be forty points clear at the top on the Prem & still be gnashing your fingernails thru the game against your neighbours. It's the last part of football that still feels like the old days.
Regardless of form, points & decisions about who stays/goes it all gets put on hold for two games. All that matters is that you don't concede (else it gives them something to shout about), definitely don't lose & try to win whatever way you can. And that's what happened.
Normal service - and grumbles - can be resumed for the following game.

That horrible ancient-looking twat, Paul Robinson, looks like he's had a right lash out - a kick then a punch - that put Chester on the deck immediately following the goal.
Some comments saying it looked like he apologised straight away as Chester got back up to celebrate. Too bad. Suspend the fucker for the last two games and the first two of their League 1 season.

Re: Villa v SHA - match thead
Some have been saying it was an accident but I'm not sure myself, I think it might have been deliberate, hard to tell really, but it should be looked into.
Redknapp's been completely ungracious in defeat as well, saying now that Agbonlahor's had ten minutes he'll be happy for another year, and that if this is the best we can do then Bruce has a lot of work to do (which is correct, but it's not for an opposition manager to say).
