Re: The Steve Bruce thread
So according to Pat Murphy, Clarke was close to getting it as he was favoured by Wyness & Little but Steve Round was the Bruce fan & had long wanted to work with him. I guess that might have been the reason for the delay.

Maybe the delay was Brucey getting the assistants that he wanted, Clark left this afternoon according to reports so he will be after a number 2 straight away

I'm simply amazed that the wally with the brolly wasn't trampled in the rush to take the Derby job by Bruce considering who one of their main sponsors are.....Wookster wrote:Read it and weep

Come on mate ffs, give the bloke a chance.Joppe84 wrote:This doesn't fly with me. He better never lose
He certainly wasn't my first choice not because of his past but I think he is a boring sugarbag.
I do respect the fact he knows how to make a team hard to beat and builds a team on good defensive foundations.
I think it is a case of the right man in the right place at the right time.
A good fit for both me thinks.

Is this for real? Dr T tweeted that SM was not in the first 25. If openness of comment gives us discrepancies like this, let's get back to silence please. If the SR comments are true, then I'm glad he's on board.

When you consider that Dr X tweeted on Saturday that it was down to 2, they could have been arguing about since then. There's your BM tabloid heading: SPLIT BOARD AT VILLA!! THREE DAYS OF ARGUING!!

Dr T texted that there were 3 not 2 as reported. Nothing wrong with different opinions. If true its interesting that SR won out, but then technically he is the football advisor!

I didn't read it like that. "We've working hard last week from 25 to 10 to 3 (not as reported) to 2." I read that as him saying that when they got down to 3, they weren't the candidates that were being reported. Otherwise, why put the "to 2" out of the brackets?
Percy reported that at the beginning of the week they were interviewing Clarke so I guess there could have been a bit of debate if opinion was split. You're right though; it's good that it was thoroughly debated. I just wouldn't put it passed the tabloids tomorrow to blow it out of proportion.
