Underrated PL footballers

I thought I'd make a thread to stop my own negativity for a bit.

What's in your opinion PL's most underrated footballers?

I'll start. Callum McManaman and Redmond. I'd love it if we signed Redmond.

Reo Coker. Going back a bit I know, but I thought he added a lot to our midfield and brought some leadership. Only really lacking goals from his game.

I completely disagree with you here. He was solid at West Ham, was decent for us in our first season, then was complete shit after that. I'll never forget his 1v1 pathetic finish against Chelsea that could have won us the game under Houllier. He was shit for Bolton and Ipswich, then went to MLS because he got found out in the Championship, and has bounced around to several clubs since. When Chivas USA folded, the league allowed the rest of the clubs to draft their players, and nobody wanted to pick up NRC. That says a lot.

Ha ha yes. In fact if you just list anyone MON sold and throw in O'Leary' victims too, you'd probably have a team good enough to win the league!

It's slightly ironic how people always say our academy is shit and people's pick for underrated premier league footballers is a Villa academy product in a year we're possibly relegated.

Some moan we don't make any Rooneys or Stones but if you look at it our academy has made more solid premier league performers than most. Some of them are even players who could benefit us right now, more so than fucking hasbeens like Richardson and Lescott.

The academys at the top clubs might have created more PL players but they spend more on buying in talent than we do and some absolutely appalling players manage to stay at a decent level because they have Manchester United on their CV.

I think Nathan BakEr is underrrAted. He is a great player and should not have gone on loan.

I think the way he was let go was poor, too. Apparently the club just let his contract run down and didn't even bother talking to him. If he was a sugarbag, that's shameful. That he's a product of our youth system and a Villa fan makes it a million times worse.

I don't think it's by chance that he looked good under our academy coaches, ordinary under Lambert/Culverhouse and good again now.
