2015-16 Fixtures - Out on Weds June 17
Apparently next seasons fixtures come out Jun 17 - Tommorow !!!!!
Personally I prefer to play the big guns early - the newly promoted teams will be easy points later in the season - but are always toughies early on.....

Arsenal first. Revenge plus it's always fun to watch the "Wenger Out" brigade crying early doors.

I agree, we aren't any good at Cup Finals and that's what it's like playing a newly promoted team in the first few matches. Arsenal for me at the Emirates! Leicester at VP next, followed by Man U at Old Trafford.smetro wrote:Apparently next seasons fixtures come out Jun 17 - Tommorow !!!!!

In the terms of Reeves and Mortimer "it donst really matter" If we start well happy day if we start badly we have the rest of the season to pick up, what I do not want is the spell when we could not score could not win and could not be arsed in the middle of the season. I really do not want the same crap and worry we have had for the last 3-4 years. Lets be mid table at the end the season, above the baggies with no regulation problems looming over us. Not much to ask I think.

Yeah, I am craving some dull mid-table mediocrity!jeffvilla wrote:In the terms of Reeves and Mortimer "it donst really matter" If we start well happy day if we start badly we have the rest of the season to pick up, what I do not want is the spell when we could not score could not win and could not be arsed in the middle of the season. Well, obviously I'd rather be at the top end of the table, but even if we became the richest club in the world this summer, it would still be an unrealistic expectation for next season.

Great Away day by the beach. Tiny ground though, so tickets will be in short supply!!
Can't believe we have the fixtures and now looking forward to next season already. It feels like last season only just ended. I still haven't fully cleansed myself of last season and need a little longer.

I've had to remove the two posts with fixtures listed because of Premier League copyright. We have to pay £250 for a license if we want to print more than one fixture.NARLA24 wrote:http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/FixturesAndResults
NARLA has linked the official site fixture list, So it just takes a moment to access all the info you need. (presumably Randy's paid the £250!

Re: 2015-16 Fixtures - Out on Weds June 17
Had a look at the results of promoted teams on the first day of the season, for the last 10 seasons. Of the 30 matches, here is how the results break down:
Wins: 6 (20%)
Draws: 5 (16.5%)
Losses: 19 (63.5%)
Of the 6 wins on the opening day, West Ham have managed it twice (once against us !!).
Only Blackpool have been promoted and won away on the opening day in the last 10 seasons.
Of the championship winners, only 2 have come up and won on the opening day, namely Reading (06) and Sunderland (07).
No Championship runner-up has won on the opening day of the premier league season in the last 10 years...get on Everton on 8th August!!
I actually think getting Bournemouth first up is a great fixture for us. I would think the nerves and pressure...plus expectation of the crowd will weigh heavy on Bournemouth, and it may take them a few weeks to get used to the Premier League.
There is an argument to suggest that it is getting harder for Championship teams to come up and compete now. In the last 5 years, only Blackpool and West Ham (against us) have come up and won on the opening day and there have only been 3 draws, meaning 10 of the 15 games have ended in defeat for the newly promoted team in the last 5 years.

Wasn't we Wimbledon's first ever top flight opponent all those years ago ? Didn't we go down 2-3 ?

I see that the free training match against Bristol city in Portugal on Friday 17th July, is now going to be against Sporting Braga instead according to the Official Site.
