My favourite Villa manager Villa legends piece in Birmingham Mail

Birmingham Mail wrote:Brian Little will be back in charge of Villa next month – but only for a day at the Club Legends Cup.

Little has agreed to manage the claret and blues at the event in aid of Cure Leukaemia at the LG Arena in Birmingham on Saturday, July 12.

The 60-year-old former boss will be reunited with some of his former mid-1990s players, including Ian Taylor, Lee Hendrie, Julian Joachim and Alan Wright, who are all taking part in the tournament.

Paul Merson, Darius Vassell, Gordon Cowans, Dion Dublin, Darren Byfield, David James and Stefan Postma have also agreed to play for Villa.

They will take on rivals Blues , Albion , Wolves , Coventry and Walsall in the inaugural Club Legends Cup indoor football tournament, which is supporting Midlands blood cancer charity Cure Leukaemia. Little’s former Villa team-mate Ray Graydon will manage the Walsall team, with Steve Bull in charge of Wolves and Barry Powell looking after Coventry.

“I’m really excited to be back managing many of the Villa players I worked with in the 1990s again,” said Little.

“To have the fans playing as well is a brilliant idea and one that I’m sure will prove very entertaining on July 12!

“I know the tremendous work Cure Leukaemia do around the region and I hope we can have great fun and raise significant funds for the charity at the same time.”

* Tickets are priced £10 adults, £2 Under-16s, plus booking fees, from www.lgarena.co.uk/whatson/club-legends-cup/ or 0844 338 8000
