Thought our members may be interested in this. Fair play to the lad trying to organize it and I wish him the best of luck but I can't see all the supporters getting behind it. I would love to see The Holte End in full flow more often if I'm honest. I expect everyone on this forum to bring the toilet rolls and inflatables with them though

Re: Get The Holte End Back!
Unfortunately I know full well that if I brought a flag with me and started waving it around two things would happen.
1. The people behind me would get pissed off and tell me to stop waving it about.
2. I'd get funny looks because nobody else had brought one.
I'm only 25 so I don't remember the old Holte End and the atmosphere that surrounded it but my memory of the CSKA Moscow game with all the mini flags being waved around looked spectacular. I'd love to be able to repeat that!

Re: Get The Holte End Back!
Fantastic old photo's. Love the ones of the building/demolition work.
These days they would all have been killed of course, not a hi-viz vest in sight, how did they survive.?
I remember standing in the Holte on a little wooden stool so i could see....them were the days....

I remember sitting the other side of the little white wall, pitch side.

The new owner will be at villa park this weekend - lets get the old lady rocking and show him what a great club he is buying.

I love those photos. What an End the old Holte was.
Didn't they intend to seat it originally after the Taylor report then just decided to build a new stand? In fairness, the new Holte is also something quite special.

Good luck to the organisers, fair play to them for getting off their arses and trying to do something.

Absolutely. I sometimes wonder if villa would have survived these past few seasons without contributions from the fans in crucial games against Newcastle and QPR to think of two obvious examples.

If we survive this season you can add the Man City and Chelsea games to that list. The atmosphere for those matches were a different level. It seems the fans only really raise the noise level when we play the big teams or local derbys. Or is it the fact that the players only raise their game in those matches?

Re: Get The Holte End Back!
Nothing like standing in the Holte.
I remember the buzz I got at my first game aged just 4 against Preston in 1973 and that set me up for life, nowhere else to watch the villa for me.
Seating has meant the loss of atmosphere, the constant moaning of fans who don't even stand when we score. I'm glad I've experienced standing in the Holte and sad for the ones who have never known it!

The feeling of being in the old Holte when it was full was amazing. The noise was unbelievable, as 28,000? got behind the team.Jimmyrimmer wrote:Nothing like standing in the Holte.

The noise could be brilliant, but I loved it the most when it started in the Trinity Road and spread and reached a crescendo with what felt like the whole ground joining in. It was like a movement of noise.
