Deano's fourth match, beating Bolton at home and what looks like a settled defence with players in their correct positions, bar the most important, Chester. He looked miles better though and ignoring his two goals, that goal line clearance was superb. Bolton are probably the least of our worries though, and had Tammy and Kodjia had better days it could have been a significantly more impressive win.

What's the answer though? As much as I like Tuanzebe he's right-sided, so only for me injury backup for Chester. Bedeau (left-sided) seems to be staying in the U23s and Elphick (right-sided) is on loan. It's a complete mess, and Bruce's failure to find a proper left-sided CB and his reliance on Jedi surely contributed most to his being sacked. I though (and still believe) Collins is the answer until January at least but I think he's been injured and I wonder if he wants a contract to the end of the year. I would, in his position.

What, though, if Chester is adapting to playing on the left and we recall Elphick. Could it work? By January Elphick will have been playing every match, be match fit and back on top of things.

Or is the answer to have Chester in his natural position ASAP and bring in someone left-sided to partner him? It looks like we're stuck with what we have now until Christmas, but what do you think we should do, recall Elphick and play him with Chester out-of-position or bring in someone new?

Elphick has just been voted as Hulls player of the month. An inspired decision by Bruce to let him go with no other CB to come in.

Sign Collins and bring back Elphick and ship out Jedinak oe Whelan on loan along with Lansbury! Sorted with very little cost and worry about long term at the end of the season when we know where we are!

Henri Lansbury. Whatever has happened to Henri Lansbury? Bought whilst a top grade championship performer, very soon became seemingly unselectable at Villa. What has happened?

Steve Bruce! Look at Scott Hogan under Deano before we bought him:

It will be interesting to see who we offload in January. Lansbury's been playing with the U23s but he's an expensive reserve player to keep hold of if we're not going to use him.

Taylor doesn't get forward enough so Deano pulls him! You have to love Deano's effective substitutions? When did we last see that with a Villa side?

Taylor got injured, that is why he got substituted at half time.
