I've just seen this compilation of Kodjia's 19 goals from last season:

Penalties: 3
Crosses chipped in from the edge of the box: 2
Crosses from out wide: 2
Individual goals or played in down the middle: 12

So two things here. Firstly this is where I see Grealish playing behind Kodjia and feeding him some of these natty through balls. Secondly, only two goals scored from crosses from out wide? Two? Out of 19 goals? Seems a waste of Kodjia's height and strength, doesn't it? Sure, Hogan and McCormack can't take down a cross for toffee, so why not play three at the back and pack out the midfield with them, but our first three friendlies have been 4-4-2, so when are we going to try out a formation with a lone striker? No, Kodjia (and potentially Grealish - go on Bruce, give it a go!) won't be there to make it work properly but what, we cross that bridge when he comes back a month or so into the season? Or... am I missing something?

I'd love it if we could get proper wing play back. Green is ace, but wish we could be more direct in general

Me too, seems pointless playing a 4-4-2 if the whole midfield is there to defend. Likewise if we're going to play wing backs do Green and Adomah fit in there? Or are we going to rely on Elmo and Bjornason? Or even Hutton, who does everything really well except defend and cross.
