It is because he is unpredictable and can score at any time, even without any service from midfield, basically the 'get out of jail' card!

Re: Jonathan Kodjia
he's no where near match fitness, check out the second goal the u23's scored last night ( in the u23's thread) and he's so far off the pace its untrue. Unless Bruce selected him in midfield of course, wouldn't put that past him !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course he isn't match fit at all but he might get 10 minutes at the end to rescue the situation we find ourselves in again!

Bruce is going to play him as a crowd pleaser. He needs some good news and at the moment this is all he has.

Re: Jonathan Kodjia
Needs an operation and potentially could be out for five months, crazy that nineteen year old Davis is our only fit striker. We're going to have go out and get one in January, could do with Hogan and Hepburn-Murphy getting fit asap.

Could be back for the play offs?
Shame really as we desperately need him to be back scoring for us.

Apparently Bruce has said that the club are going to back him to get a replacement in January, bring in the right player and if we're still in touch with the top two, it could propel us over the line.
Dwight Gayle's hardly getting a game for Newcastle, maybe he's someone we could bring in on loan.

That is a good shout as he is certainly proven at our level and would give us some additional pace.

We need strikers that create chances for themselves as they will get no service from our midfield.

He'd be as bad as Hogan at bringing down a long ball! Has Big John been in touch to offer his services for free again? All he has to do is let long balls bounce off him for the midfield to try to collect.
Whelan's holding back Hourihane and not letting him do his job properly. That's why I liked Hourihane and Lansbury together in the last match of last season, at least one of them was always forward and getting in the box and that was against a team who knew it was their last chance to win the league rather than just accept automatic promotion. Sure, we're currently winning enough matches by the one or two goals from midfielders or defenders every time but even if the playoffs is the target we'll be up against exactly the teams that have beaten us so far.

Re: Jonathan Kodjia
Slightly better news is that Hepburn-Murphy is fit again, and will play against Sheffield United for the u23s. Lets hope he can stay fit, and Bruce will give him a chance.

Hepburn-Murphy (his attitude is not the greatest so I have heard)!

Re: Jonathan Kodjia
I've heard the opposite. Seems like some questioned his attitude because of the delay in signing his contract, which I think was a bit unfair. I don't think it took Hepburn-Murphy any longer to sign his deal that it did the likes of O'Hare and Doyle-Hayes, and others to sign their deals, it's just that the Hepburn-Murphy situation was more publicized because he was being linked to Man City and Glasgow Rangers.
Lets hope he can stay fit from now on.

Bruce has said at the press conference for the Ipswich game, that we're going to try and bring in a striker in on loan.

Kodija no big miss,. He's done nowt this session anyway. If Audrey can get in the team with keinan they will kill it. They were the bees knees when they played together in one of the youth teams, but sure which one though.

The thing about young players is that you don't know how they will handle the main stage until you throw them in. Which is why I advocated extensive use of our younger lads instead of trying to buy this league. And give me Kienan Davis over Hogan or McCormack any day.

Bruce is playing down his chances of playing again this season but he's apparently back in full training on Monday. I guess match fitness will be issue, but his presence could give the players a boost if he's in and around the squad.

It would be a great boost to the whole team and supporters to have him back even just on the bench!
