Based on what exactly? Gabby can also play left back, it doesn't mean he should.

Re: Transfer window
The first two have played left back for either club or country in the past season. The next 4 have all played left back for us in the past season or so.
That's what I'm basing it on.

Would be utterly moronic to gamble relegation on the fact that a few players has managed a position previously. Sanchez has done half okey at CB for us as well, I would still never want him as a permanent option.
Get quality in at left back this January.

Maybe we can have a whip-round and get Arjen Robben

Re: Transfer window
Left back isn't our most pressing need by any means. We need a proper out and out goalscorer. Even if Ayew keeps up his promising form of Kate we definitely need somebody to compliment him.

I'm lost - did Kate compliment Ayew? I didn't know she fancied him...

We're relegated unless we invest heavily in January.
Richardson, Hutton, Clark, Guzan, Lescott. All fucking shite.
This is all on Lerner. You can't expect to stay in this league when you don't invest. Fucking American wanker.

Invest in January? At this rate we'll be relegated by January.

Re: Transfer window
We need to replace 4 out of our back 5, we need some rockets up the arses of our forward players. There was a moment today where ayew had the ball against 4 Everton defenders and had no support whatsoever. At the moment I am struggling to make a case for most of our players. I don't even think it's ability with half of them I just dont see the desire. We need players who are going to bust their balls for us and we just don't have them. Can you imagine any of our squad scoring a goal like dele alli for England the other night, winning a challenge then getting straight back up to get on the end of a pass 40 yards further forward. Not the finish but the movement.

Who is going to come to villa, after today's performance we need a lot of players, most of us new we were lucky against Man City, let's see what happens next week.they all need a kick up the backside after that performance.

Re: Transfer window
Signing players in January is highly problematic.
Firstly is Lerner going to stump up the necessary funds? By no means a given.
This may be affected by our league position by then. On current form it will be beyond perilous and those close to Lerner will tell him not to waste his money.
Also, why would any quality player come to us when we look certain for relegation? This applies to any foreign player worth having - they only want to play in the PL, unless they are really crap.

I would add Westwood, Sanchez, Gabby and Gestede to the Shite List.

Re: Transfer window
The squad as it is will be relegated, I've absolutely no doubt about that. Every Villa fan needs to remove the claret and blue tinted specs and realise that pretty much our entire midfield isn't good enough, one or two of our defenders isn't good enough, and we are short up front. Our left side is now shot, Richardson we know is simply not good enough in that position and with Grealish as "protection" becomes a liability. It's a "free for all" for opposition teams down our left, Cissokho would be a much improved defensive option offering a bit of physicality and experience. We need Okore back and up to speed asap, we need an energetic and ball winning CM to come in, we need a confident and good GK, and we are desperate for a CF. That's the minimum required in January. It would cost a lot of money if those players were available to us (which i don't think they will be) and by January we could be adrift almost beyond reasonable thoughts of escape. Our numpty of an owner will not stump up any money if it seems we're heading for relegation, he'll simply trouser the money from sales and parachute payments etc and flog the club to anyone offering around £100m. He's a complete turd of an owner.
Where there is still possibility there is hope, but reality is telling us we look sunk this time around. Watford is an absolute must win game, and to be honest i don't see us winning it. We just don't have it in the squad.

January will be pointless if we do not pick up some points soon. Garde has his work cut out but he needs to come up with something and very quickly.

Re: Transfer window
What we need is LEADERS on the pitch and at present I have to say I don't see any, any players that we bring in MUST have this quality as well as being quality. Whether they will want to come to us is another matter, but at least we have to get out there and find them, money talks unfortunately so we have to pay to be able to survive.

Re: Transfer window
One or two men required in this team, with one or two hard and unselfish decisions to be made regarding player positions. I'd get Senderos back in the squad, and either Cissokho or Bennett have to be recalled, why not both? Micah has to help the club out for the remainder of the season by going to RB which will allow us to pick two from Senderos, Lescott, Clark, and Okore. Then in January we need to get probably Austin in as striker and something else in midfield, someone who is physical and gets themself about a bit. Ideally a GK also. Three players in and the other positions are bridgeable from within the club already. It just means people putting the club first in front of their own interests. Not too much to ask.
We could enter the last 20 or so games with a starting 11 along the lines of;
......................................Karius....................................
Richards.............Okore........................Senderos.........Cissokho
......................................Sanchez.........................................
Gil.....................Gueye......................Veretout................Ayew
.....................................Austin............................................
It's still missing the physicality in the middle that i am sure we need, but there is more ability and experience in the back 4 at least.
