If McCleish was still in charge?
Was wondering earlier....do you think if McCleish had still been in charge....under the exact same cost cutting measures...we would be pretty much where we are now, more competitive in the league or already relegated?
I can't help believing we would be better off, at least comfortably finishing in the top 12/13 by now

We would have gone down in McLeish's season if it was a 42-game season.
We was in freefall at the end of that season

I've been wondering the same thing. I hated his season in charge but I've hated the last 3 seasons more.

Probably just as shit. Lambert's still got a better win ratio than Eck but is shipping goals for fun

I think we'd have been in the same boat. We got gradually worse as that season went on and there were no signs of improvement. Lambert is just as bad as McLeish. Both very poor Premier League managers.

Mcleish > lambert for me. He had one season to try and sort out the mess that Lambert has been given three seasons for. Plus he was battling against protests from day one. He never had a honeymoon period and was always against the tide, yet PL has been afforded way too much grace and we have not progressed at all in 3 years. The squad is loads better, yer results just as bad and we are now worse off than this stage last year, so we've regressed. Overall, literally no improvement since Houllier was sick and ultimately left.
Still prefer Eck as a person too.
